It was a wonderful idea: Bring together 10 noted photographers, and them all to do self-assigned, one-day projects on the same day. Unfortunately, many of the photographers who contributed to this Martin Parr brainstorm phoned in their work, producing collections of images that any art student should have been embarrassed to turn in for a class assignment. Parr, of course, took the assignment seriously, decided to document a day in his own life, and his wry sense of humor and photographic skills shine through. But most of the efforts in this fancy box of slim individual volumes don't begin to justify the sky-high price for this set.

I have seen the work of about half of these photographers before and am delighted to be introduced to a few more. I own a number of Harvey Benge's books, Soth, Gossage and Parr so I was familiar with some of the photographers. This collection is really worth it. It's bound in a very heavy card stock in a matching case. Nice work.
