I recently bought this book for Kindle and am not quite finished. But I can say that if you are trying to lose weight and become the best, all around, healthy person you can be then Chantel Hobbs' story will truly inspire you. I've been on a weight loss, training journey for about 14 months now and Chantel's first book, Never Say Diet, has been a constant reference for me along the way. This is a woman who with the demands of life like marriage, family, 4 kids, sick parents, etc. had the dedication and determination to start excercising and change the way she ate and how she went from 349 lbs to now RUNNING MARATHONS. Even though some of her writing seems directed toward women, I am a 48 yo male and I too have been encouraged by her story and successes. I'm not running marathons...YET...but I have dropped almost 80 lbs and am running 5Ks on a regular basis. What I've picked up so far from The One Day Way seems to be a simplification of some of the principles I learned from Never Say Diet. We can't look at life's challenges, such as weight loss, and focus on how high the 'mountain' might be and get discouraged that we can never reach the top. The only way to get to the top of the 'mountain' is by taking one step at a time. That's what you will learn from Chantel...take One Day at a Time and before long you are climbing up the 'mountain' and if you keep climbing you can reach the top!

In summary, read BOTH books and see how Chantel can help you change your life.

Chantel lost 200 pounds and has made a living from it. She is a personal trainer, has written two books, been on TV, and has a web site and a video series. She is one more voice in a huge market (pun intended).
Is Chantel's book different enough from others that one should read it? Yes and no. The encouraging aspect of the book is Chantel's insistence that each day be lived on its own. The reader is encouraged to succeed on that day. One is not to worry about yesterday or try to anticipate tomorrow. Think about one success for the day, such as, "Today I will not eat potato chips." Celebrate your success that day and make another success goal the next day. Don't think about long term plans. Enjoy the celebration of one successful day.
The disappointing part of the book is that it is the same old "diet and exercise" routine. Chantel has developed her own food and exercise plan but it is like so many others that I found nothing unique with that part of the book.
Chantel does say that faith is very much an element of her program. Her emphasis is faith, food, and fitness.
As with any "diet" book, it comes down to the bottom line: you must be at the point where you are willing to make a commitment. If you are not ready to change your life, even for one day, don't bother with the book. If, however, you are ready to make a commitment for just one day this book will be an encouragement. After you have had the thrill of the success of one day, you will know you are on your way to a reconstructed life.

Chantel Hobbs has changed my whole perspective on reclaiming my health in a realistic manner. I have not finished the entire book but I know its one that I will be using as primary reference point on my day-by-day weightloss journey. What a Blessing this book is!
