Great book for the right people!,
By
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
Many people send a lifetime looking for their path. Many people give up in the process and live ordinary lives. It is a choice. It is a decision.
I read all the feedback written on this site. I respect that their opinion is coming from the place of where they are at that particular time. This book is inspirational. This book isn't for everyone. If you are hearing the dialogue in your mind answer, "Then, who is this book for?" Then reading this book MAY be right for you. We can only go as far in life as the five people we surround ourselves with. This is so true and its taken me over half a life time to learn this. But this includes books too. If we read negative topics, we will attract negative into our life. This is the way the universal energies, and quantum phyics proves this, works. Even if we are upbeat person, living with such negative media exposure can get the best of people down. Reading books like Ms. Wright's helps to balance, reignite that positive way of living that we need to attract our desires. Ms. Wright uses the word MORE many times throughout the book, TRUE. That's repetition. And there is a reason for repetition. This is the way human's learn. We don't absorb things just because we placed a book under our pillows. We need to hear messages, good positive messages over and over again. I would have enjoyed the book had it been 75 to 100 pages less, however, I do believe Ms. Wright was writing from a place of soul, a place of universial energy. If someone is lost on what ladder their wall should be leaning against, this book will help propel and stablize that ladder. I wish many of these great books were available when I was a teenager. I could see my path being so different than it has been. I am glad Ms. Wright wrote this book. For the right person needing it at the right time in their life it will be a valuable gift. Ms. Wright shares years and years of wisdom. And to receive that for the small amount of $14.95 is quite a miracle actually. Writing a book isn't a profit making venture for a writer unless it sells over 100,000 and hits the best seller list. So for explaining where you can find out more about what she has to offer is a fair exchange for the price of her experience. In fact, I consider it more than fair on the part of the purchaser. When one picks up a book, one should be asking if it is a match for them at the moment. This is usually figured out in the first few pages of the book. If it isn't the right time, sometimes the universal laws bring it to us to place on the shelf for when it is the right time. Occasionally, the book has only one chapter we need to hear -- either the first time, or for repetition because, knock-knock, we didn't get it the first time around, or maybe the tenth time around. I suggest reading the first chapter. If it isn't a match, read the table of contents. If the universe sent a message for you to purchase this book, there is something for you to growth with and/or learn. Look for it. Lightly meditate or ask the universe for the answer. It will answer if you are open to hearing the answer. Then follow its direction. Maybe just maybe you were given the message to get the book to give it as a gift to someone special in your life, maybe not. But for whatever reason the book found you, you may want to listen to what it has to say. We are discussing this book during the month of January on the Let's Talk Coaching radio show. My co-host Lisa Kincaid and myself were surprised by the material. We read it and nothing seemed to mesh on occasions but when we allowed a little time, we felt the authors energy, and messages, new thoughts began to occur for us. And some of our listeners told us they felt the same way. This is why I give this book 5 stars, which I seldom do. This book is part of the process of life, about keeping the negative of the world at bay, and about living with our ladder on the right way and not wasting years wondering where the wall is. A Practical Guide that Works,
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
Judith Wright's One Decision shows how to live life at its fullest. A One Decision, she says, is "a life-defining decision about the quality of your life." It's the decision that provides a guiding philosophy to your life and, as such, "can transform the fabric and foundation of your life."
When cyclist Lance Armstrong learned he had cancer, she says, he made a One Decision: live strong. Everything he did since flowed from that decision. The challenge, Judith says, is to learn how to live your One Decision and allow it to power and inform daily choices. To show how, each chapter explains a characteristic of a One Decision and tells stories of people who use a One Decision as a basis for leading purposeful and satisfying lives. Judith writes in the American philosophical and self-improvement tradition that began with Benjamin Franklin, in which ideas, knowledge, and information serve to make life easier, more productive, and more satisfying. That the book has been endorsed by today's preeminent business writers and trainers, including Tom Peters, Ken Blanchard, and Steven Covey, confirms its eminently practical nature. Read, reflect--and decide.

I made my One Decision & it changed my life,
By J. "book lover" (New Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The One Decision: Make the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Mass Market Paperback)
I saw this author on tv last year and bought the book -- and I have to say that it has been extremely helpful. The concept of what the "one decision" is, and her clear steps to figure out what your decision is, were essential for me this past year. I used the principles in the book throughout most of 2006, and because I did I found that I was more focused about where I put my time and energy -- and as a result, the effects in my life were astounding. I enjoyed my family more, I did better at work, I started (and finished) creative projects that have been meaningful, and I noticed an improvement in my health. I did all of this using the information I learned in the book. This has been one of the most inspiring and practical self-help books I've ever read.

Live your life as an adventure!,
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
I loved this book. It sounds like Wright is speaking directly to you, and it is so inspiring. For me, just thinking about my life as an adventure totally changes my attitude day to day. And that's just the first chapter. Throughout the book, Wright teaches the lessons, and illustrates each point with real stories of her students. These stories are easy to relate to and very inspirational. If you're looking for a way to get excited about your new year, and make a big change in your life, this book is for you.

Easy read leads to large shifts,
By
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
As the owner of a small sales corporation I am responsible for everything from filing to payroll to compensation manager while always needing to make my sales calls. Before this book I was going in 16 different directions at once and continually dropping 'the ball' trying to shift gears.
The book was an easy read in terms of time, but I also felt confronted because the subject matter was shaking up my normal way of seeing the world. I have seen my world as compartments which I thought made life easier to manage. In fact my desire to operate my life as if I were different compartments caused a huge energy drain that I was totally unaware of. In fact 'shifting gears' was a transition mechanism I used unconsciously to process the last activity and start worrying about the next activity. By telling the truth more fully and attending the best I can to the present moment (two of the major concepts addressed in the book) I don't need to process or worry as much. I now have a much clearer vision of how to be fluid (Flow is another major concept in the book) in my life and I am learning how to be and stay focused, driven and at the same time I feel much more at ease-the things any juggler will tell you are the basics for having a lot of balls in the air at once. I build better teams (Life team is also a concept addressed in the book) to support me and I am excited about being wherever I am. I no longer feel like I am changing gears. I feel like I am just shifting focus in the moment and the `16 directions' at once are just part of the game. Because I am more relaxed and complete I am closer to my wife and my customers and I rest better when it is time to rest. For me, as a business man, this is the greatest revolution in my thinking since Tom Peters "Thriving on Chaos" and as a husband and father I have nothing to compare it to. Get this book if you want more pleasure, money and fun.

Judging this book by it's cover...,
By
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
The title on the dust jacket of this book is backed by hundreds of small, faint phrases, all starting with the word "MORE," like MORE LOVE and MORE WEALTH. You'll read the word, in caps, throughout the inside of this book, too, perhaps to remind you that you don't have enough in the first place. (As an antidote, read "How to Want What You Have: Discovering the Magic and Grandeur of Ordinary Existance," by Timothy Miller.) Ms. Wright has a business to run and nowhere is this more evident than when she writes, "Living your One Decision requires support, encouragement, inspiration, and training." She provides it all, too, with a website, a team of coaches and seminars galore. Frankly, I think this is fine. Humans that we are, we can use some support in pursuit of things that aren't easily had. Just be warned that this book is a funnel to MORE of what the author wants you to buy, as well. The text itself is rambling but, again, it's what's on the cover that gets my attention, this time 'round back. There, celeb endorser, Ken Blanchard, is quoted as saying, "The power of The One Decision by Judith Wright lies in the fact that it's great advice being offered with no strings attached." Really? Then why is the author pushing the need for her coaching, and seminars, and other things? Did Blanchard even read this book? And did the other fellow-authors, whose quotes are used?

Fluff and Nutter,
By Sven Crown (alexandria, va United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
This verbose book is about 300 pages too long. It has padding which would make Twiggy look like Dolly Parton. I find it rather arrogant for some authors to add fluff instead of substance. Spend five hours reading the book and you won't recall many salient passages. Before buying the book, try reading about 20 pages which will be filled with trite platitudes.
Save your money and purchase Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins or Jim Britt's "Unleashing Your Authentic Power". The publisher's poor print type setting doesn't help either. Also,I noticed that more than half the reviewers are from the Chicago area. They probably attended the author's seminars.More padding. So much for unbiased reviews.

The real deal!,
By
This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
This book is the real deal! The One Decision focuses on creating the quality of life you want and presents it in a practical, powerful way. The author lays out simple yet impactful pathways to discovering your own One Decision. What's great about this book is that it's not just fluff, it's the real deal--this is filled with inspiring personal stories that I can relate to and applicable "how to" strategies that I can do. There is also a great 30-day plan at the end of the book to help guide people to making their own one decision. This is great for book clubs to do together!

Results vs intellectual titilation,

This review is from: The One Decision: Making the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Hardcover)
As I read through the reviews of this book, it seemed obvious to me those who wanted to change their lives and those who were lookng for intellectual titilation. I challenge anyone to follow the steps given by this author before passing judgement on the book's value.
I am an author and director of the School of Spiritual Psychology since 1980. I know fluff from the real stuff. If you want results, buy it, read it, take it to heart. It hits the nail on the head.

I love this book!,
By
This review is from: The One Decision: Make the Single Choice That Will Lead to a Life of More (Mass Market Paperback)
I love this book! It helped me reinvent my life at 58 years of age. I use it for guidance and inspiration when I feel stuck. Judith helped me see how I had been shrinking my life to ease into a boring retirement and awakened my desire for more. I decided to live the rest of my life as an adventure and am amazed by how my life has changed. By following the principles in this book, I have expanded my career as a social worker and as an artist and rekindled the passion in my marriage. I highly recommend it.
