5.0 out of 5 stars Real thrash with no complaints!!!, February 20, 2006
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
On a secene oversaturated of the swedish death metal and the boring metalcore, is good to hear that one band's commintment is to change the terrific music scenario, this is Demiricous. This is one of a hell album, with terrific guitar riffs, incredible drums and great vocals. Like the reviews said: a very influential from Slayer. So if you like bands like Summon and Watch Them Die, this is for you!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best new thrash band of this millennium, April 26, 2006
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
Demiricous have just one album out so far, but this record, which is entitled "One (Hellbound)" and was released in January, is a thrashsterpiece. I'll even go out on a limb and say that it will be one of the (maybe THE) best thrash discs to be released in all of 2006 (it will even overshadow Slayer's new disc, which is due in August.) Demiricous are surely the best thrashers to come along in a while, and they might very well be the best since The Haunted formed in 1996!

The guitar work is wild, frenetic, and off the charts. The ultra fast, intense and heavy riffs echo Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman (circa 1986), and the guitar solos are similar to other thrash groups because they're none-too-technical. Next, the drums are very quick (even though they're barely audible because of the guitars), and Nate Olp's high pitched, retching vocals wouldn't be out of place on a black metal album. This vocal style might be a bit grating in spots (especially at first), but it also helps Demiricous to stand out from other bands, like the aforementioned Slayer.

"One (Hellbound)" begins with "Repentagram," which is quite similar to Slayer's 1986 song "Angel Of Death." "Repentagram" shoots by at a ferocious speed with pounding, blistering riffs, and a guitar solo is also slipped into the mix. "Withdrawl Divine" is another blindingly fast track which features scorching (and occasionally chugging) riffs and a searing solo. Track three, "Vagrant Idol," keeps your blood pumping. It's backed by stomping, machine gun guitars and a few deep, "angry bear"-like barks. The fourth song, "Beyond Obscene," might be the best of the bunch. It builds from a mid-paced chug to a buzzsaw rhythm and includes four (mini) solos.

"Heathen Up (Out For Blood)" is slower and churning, but the next song after that, "Cheat The Leader," returns the album to its usual, speed of light, steamrolling tempo. The last songs I'll mention are "Matador," which has a hooky, bobbing beat with punching power chords, and the album closer, "Hellraisers," which features a catchy, memorable, shout-along chorus.

So, if you haven't heard of this Indianapolis based four piece yet, you definitely should get to know them because they're going to be huge. And if you enjoy thrash or speed metal, or if you've ever wondered what it was like listening to "Reign In Blood" for the first time in the 1980's, "One (Hellbound)" is definitely an album worth owning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metal will stay alive..., April 2, 2006
By
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
...thanks to bands like this. In an age full of metalcore bands, these guys are a breath of fresh air. The vocals are quite harsh and interesting, unlike most metalcore acts. The guitars are far more than just the same chords over and over. The riffs are very powerful. And they actually solo! This is a potent blend of death and thrash metal. They, along with bands like Lamb of God and Mastodon are saving the metal world from falling into obscurity. Pick this up instead of Agayu's new CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE RETURN OF TRUE F**KING METAL!!!!!!!, January 27, 2006
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
This cd is a breath of fresh air in the world of METAL. I don't mind the whole metal/core stuff, but I've had enough (if your into bands like Atreyu, forget about it you are already a lost cause). This is what I and probably other metalheads have been waiting for. Most of the songs have a SLAYER sound to them , which they pull off just fine. The overall sound is very metal/thrash.If you like SLAYER, old Nuclear Assault, Venom, Pantera... you will like this album. Anyways enough writing, just go buy this cd. This is the return of METAL. Now I just need a new SLAYER album.666

5.0 out of 5 stars Demiricous does Slayer better than Slayer., February 6, 2010

Both "One" and "Two (the second cd)" are classic thrash cd's. Demiricous does Slayer better than Slayer! No filler songs here, just devastating songs throughout. Great riffs that say what they're going to say and then end. NO FILLER!

5.0 out of 5 stars This Album Rages, November 10, 2007
By
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
There is not too much that can be said about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said. I'm a very picky music fan and there is not a second of this cd that i don't love. The riffs are thrashy and yet pounding the whole time. Most of the Cd is super fast without being chaotic or sloppy. you can definitely hear the slayer influence but the vocals give it enough of it's own Identity (i can think of a million worse bands to be influenced by) All of this alone is enough to get as many stars as they will let me give it but then there is that x factor that these guys have that you just can't put into words. Maybe it's the rage or maybe it's the fact that they are clearly giving a big F.U. to the whole emo and oversaturated metalcore scenes that are going on right now whatever "It" is that makes true metalheads fall in love with a band and support them till death these guys definitely have it!

5.0 out of 5 stars one hell of a metal band, March 20, 2007
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
A band that needs to be recognized more. Their music in my opinion sounds like old school Slayer. The singer yells all the time without any singing. Fans of Slayer check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy, Brutal, Nonstop Thrash, January 12, 2007
By
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
I bought this album last year, and I have gotta say, I was impressed with what I heard. I mean this is true heavy, brutal, nonstop in your face thrash metal. Demiricous definately have a big time future ahead of them, and there's no doubt we'll be hearing more from these guys in the near future. Their debut album "One (Hellbound)" is just packed with angry thrashing riffs, blazing solos, vicious double bass drumming, I mean this album has everything. The band's sound on here is no doubt heavily influenced by Slayer. The opening track "Repentagram" is very reminiscent of Slayer's classic "Angel Of Death" off "Reign In Blood". This song is just brutal, fast, and thrashing throughout. In fact every song on here in a classic. "Vagrant Idol", "Beyond Obscene", "Withdrawl Divine", "Matador", "To Serve is to Destroy", and the vicious closer "Hellraisers" which is a personal favorite of mine are all classics in my book. On this album, you got brutal vocals from Nate Olp who also has brutal solid bass lines, wild blazing guitar solos from lead shredder Ben Parrish, fast, tight rhythm guitarwork from Scott Wilson, and fast in your face double bass drumming courtesy of Chris Cruz. Bottom Line: If you're a fan of Slayer, thrash metal, metal, or just good music in general, Demiricous will definately be your cup of tea. Buy this album now!!

4.0 out of 5 stars 4.0 Like Slayer?, January 2, 2007

Good stuff! great thrash record! when it starts, you will think you are listening to Slayer.. Though the Vocalist sounds nothing like Tom A. Just good to hear good old fashioned Thrash again. After a few listens it will absorb into your mind... Good new band. Hope the next cd will be just as good!

4.0 out of 5 stars solid debut, December 15, 2006
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
I give the debut album from Demiricous 4 stars. It's heavy, brutal, and non-stop thrash. My only complaint is that I wish there was more variety and memorable parts in these songs. However through and through this is a solid debut. Demiricous alongside with Watch Them Die are 2 of some of the newer bands that are leading the thrash resurgence.
