Not a single failure...and all easy!,
By
This review is from: One Dough, Fifty Cookies: Baking Favorite And Festive Cookies In A Snap (Hardcover)
This little book is worth every penny. Don't judge it by its size (it's tiny), because it really packs a huge number of tasty cookies into one small space! There is one "master" cookie dough recipe to which various things are added to make everything from basic shortbreads to gingerbreads to chocolate chip cookies to thin, espresso-chocolate crisps.Since each "master dough" recipe makes enough for two full recipes of cookies, making party cookies or cookies for presents is easy. And if you don't want to make so many cookies at once, the dough freezes well so that you can make fresh cookies at the spur of the moment! I own probably 15 cookbooks for baking desserts, but when I want something fast and delicious, this is the one I go for every time.

Cookie Monster Says Yum!,
By
This review is from: One Dough, Fifty Cookies: Baking Favorite And Festive Cookies In A Snap (Hardcover)
First thing to realize is that all these recipes are really different. This book doesn't cut corners by changing the sprinkles on top. The fifty recipes are all unique and from looking at them, you would never guess they start from the same batch of dough. However, if you are merely a culinary production tool for cookie-consumer with an appetite of fabled dimensions, well, who cares? All the cookie monster wants to know is, "Is it yummy?" And the answer is yes. For each and every recipe.

A great holiday time-saver,
By
This review is from: One Dough, Fifty Cookies: Baking Favorite And Festive Cookies In A Snap (Hardcover)
I bought this book to prepare a variety of cookies for an annual holiday gathering. Because all the recipes begin with the same dough, I was able to make and bake all the treats in one afternoon and freeze them for the party the following weekend. None of my guests knew that the cookies had such similar beginnings, and everyone raved about them. I'm not sure I will try every recipe in the book, but a few of them are now my "tried-and-true" favorites for cookie swaps and parties.

This is a great book for anyone who is frequently called on for those PTO bakesales or fellowship hour at church. I also like how easy it is to make a variety of cookies for those Christmas Teacher/Friend gifts. The dough also freezes very well for those last minute desserts or cookies to bring to an event. A must have for anyone with a stand mixer in their kitchen.

The Best!,

I seriously love this book. The Malted Milk buttons, Zesty almond lime sticks..... all are great. These are the two original favorites from my first use of the book 10 years ago. I made a whole tray of 10 different kinds. I felt so accomplished going to a family gathering! Show stopper when walking into a room full of accomplished cooks coming across 3 generations.
Since then I have bought this book for many people, on many occasions: birthdays, hostess (put in a basket of goodies or even prepared dough) weddings, Christmas... I make extra Zesty almond sticks for me so I do not have to share and I make a separate tin of malt buttons for my father in law... We all enjoy these cookies. I truely appreciate this author. Very helpful and practical tips making it fun to bake. Worth every dime to own this book.

The BEST cookie cookbook ever!,

Simply said . . . the best! Ever! I bought this book in 2000 and have used it pretty much exclusively since then for my cookie baking. The base dough alone is super (and easy to make). . . but then you get to add stuff. And each recipe makes a lot of cookies. Some family favorites are the crispy rice shortbread, graham washboards, malted milk balls, tangy lemon wedges, chocolate chip, biscotti, and my particular favorite . . . the minted lemonade cookies. No pictures which is unfortunate (look at the dust jacket), but I would rather have this book without pictures than be without this book. If you bake cookies, you need this cookbook . . . and only this cookbook.

This really is a great book and simplifies my life at Christmas. One dough is used and each recipe asks you to use half the dough - so you get 2 batches. I divide it into 4 so I can get 4 different cookies. You would never know they are all from the same dough. Where we live, many of the bakeries use one dough as you can tell by the taste. They look pretty but really do not taste very good. The cookies made with with this dough taste wonderful!
