5.0 out of 5 stars Encourages the priceless value of kindling good cheer, happiness, kindness, and wonder within and without, September 14, 2005
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
Appropriate for children of all ages, but especially for boys and girls ages 5 to 9, the picturebook, No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow, is written by Barbara Meislin and illustrated by Helen Webber, and features an accompanied by a CD that contains the entire story set to music. The song No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow comes from the author's own bittersweet life experience, and emphasizes that the joy of love and hope are contained within one's own heart - emotions and values that cannot be taken away. Brilliant, multicolored illustrations broken down into simple shapes and contrasting shades in a manner reminiscent of Picasso make the simple story come alive. No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow encourages the priceless value of kindling good cheer, happiness, kindness, and wonder within and without. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful story lives on, June 23, 2006
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
I must first admit that I am one of the two children noted in the back of the book that Barbara originally sang this story to after my mother died when I was 11. This story is just as heartwarming to me now as it was 22 years ago, still carrying the beautiful message that there is always hope. I love it and am so proud that it's now available for young and old to enjoy and hear this beautiful story as told by a beautiful woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars JOY AND HOPE FOR ALL AGES... NO MATTER WHAT!, October 21, 2005
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
This book is an uplifting "gift" for anyone who has suffered a loss. The text and illustrations warm the heart. Its message is simple, yet profound, and speaks to the soul. As a psychotherapist, I imagine my clients (and my loved ones) deeply resonating with Barbara Meislin's personal loss and the beautiful healing story of encouragement she created from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inspiring Book of Hope, December 2, 2005
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
I got this book when I personally needed a reminder that no one can steal my rainbow. Its simple, yet powerful message reached into my heart like a shot of love. Now, it makes me smile and opens my heart every time I re-read it. The fact that it's inspired by Barbara Meislin's own true story of loss makes it all the more meaningful to me. The beautiful illustrations support the story, as does Barbara's CD of a soulful song she wrote and sings with the same title and words as the book. I'm also impressed that the profits of this book are donated to benefit children and peace. It works for both children and adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Soothing Healing Book, October 17, 2005
By
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
My 5 year old son, Aaron, died several weeks ago of a heart condition. A friend bought a copy of this book at the Liberty Museum and gave it to my 7 year-old daughter, Lori. We sit together in the evening. I've tried to talk about Aaron's death, but mostly Lori wanted to sit in silence. After being given the book, Lori has begun to ask me to read it to her every night, and slowly she's begun talking about her brother's death and her grief and her questions about why it happened. We have a long road ahead of us, but this book has given us a light.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love and forgiveness can set you free!, October 16, 2005
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
As a Marital Family Therapist who has dealt with adults and children in painful situations, I found the message of this lovely book to be very powerful!..."No one can ever steal your rainbow...the rainbow is in me". We know that we can't control what other people do and say to us, but we can control how we let it effect us. Being happy and loving to ourselves and others is a choice that we can make on a daily basis. The girl in this story chooses joy and lovingkindness despite all her hard knocks, and in the end, not only does it heal her, but it also heals others. This book and song (found in the accompanying bonus cd) is a beautiful reminder that love and forgiveness can set you free!

5.0 out of 5 stars Eternal Message, December 14, 2005
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
Author Barbara Meislin has captured and expressed the message that is eternal and yet so needed in our lives and societies. The strong heartful reminder that comes across for all ages, teaches us that we each have a core essence that can not be harmed by outside events, deeds and experiences, even great loss. Through this moving story Barbara shows us that when we choose love and give it, this simple act contains all the transformative power needed to change and heal. The personal story is shared with great courage.

I have stood underneath the rainbow at Neve Shalom and have seen the gift it brings to children and visitors from all over the world. Thank you Purple Lady for expressing this timeless message in such a colorful story -one from which every child, including those within, can draw the courage to live from vision.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rainbow of encouragement in dark times, September 21, 2005
By
This review is from: No One Can Ever Steal Your Rainbow (Hardcover)
This is an uplifting story, based on the suthor's experience of loss and how the light can shine through even when things feel hopeless and dark. The illustrations are charming, full of vibrant colors. Most of all the story is about hope. When you go to your book case and start to look for a book to read, and you see the beautiful purple spine on the book, I guarantee you'll pull it out, re-read it and remember why you treasure it--it leaves you feeling whole and hopeful, and it leaves you with a smile on your face when you close the book and replace it on the bookshelf.
