The movie is great. Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney have the chemistry of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan when it comes to romantic comedies. The music to the movie is also great!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad!
This movie was a good story, and definately well acted, but one thing makes it nearly impossible to watch - The little boy! His constant whining & disobedience prooves that there is a point when children need more than a "time-out". Luckily, Clooney's performance as the world's coolest dad is quite good, and Pfeiffer is great as a single mom trying to...

The movie is great. Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney have the chemistry of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan when it comes to romantic comedies. The music to the movie is also great!

Natalie Merchant performs a great, slower version of the original song "One Fine Day" which is also featured on this soundtrack. The Ad Libs' "The Boy From New York City" is just an old school, upbeat, fun song. "For The First Time" is a beautiful song performed by Kenny Loggins. "Mama Said" follows up, performed by The Shirelles, which is an also fun, upbeat, old school type song. Other great songs on this soundtrack feature "Someone Like You" by Shawn Colvin and the original version of "One Fine Day" performed by The Chiffons.

This is a great soundtrack to one of the greatest romantic/comedy movies ever made.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Fine Day is one fine movie!, February 10, 2006

One Fine Day is a sweet romantic comedy starring George Clooney (Syriana) and Michelle Pfeiffer (I Am Sam), and directed by Michael Hoffman (A Midsummer Night's Dream).

The movie takes place in one very outrageous day in New York City, hence the title, as newspaper columnist Jack Taylor, played by Clooney, and architect Melanie Parker, played by Pfeiffer, miss their kids' field trip at school, blame each other, exchange kids so that they can each follow up on their day's work, and end up falling in love.

One Fine Day is one fine movie. It's charming, funny, and it can be enjoyed by men and women alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great movie!, June 13, 2005
This review is from: One Fine Day (DVD)
I discovered this movie on a Greyhound bus to go stay with my girlfriend out of town, which is 6 hours away (11 by bus). When you're stuck in a bus for 11 hours, anything to pass the time is great. Being a guy that has a soft spot for chick flicks, this movie really surprised me. It's not really all sappy or anything, it's just more taken from real life. There's no unrealistic dialogue. If you are the kind of person that enjoys realism in movies, then this is the movie for you. It has it all.

It has comedy, romance, adventure (kind of). This movie really kind of takes you on a roller coaster ride. The acting in it is brilliant. I give Michelle and George 5 stars for their acting. It helps that it's a great script too, though. The music is fitting to the story. I really like the point in the movie where they put in Van Morrison's Have I Told You Lately, it's so fitting.

To sum up the movie in as least amount of words as possible, I would say the movie is about how a day can seem hectic, full of problems, and just downright stressful. But at the end of the day, it can be looked upon as a great day. You can hate someone at the start of a day, and at the end, fall in love with them.

This movie will have a special meaning to me for a long time, because the day I saw it to me, was exactly like the movie. Stressful, tiring, and long, but in a nutshell it was...ONE FINE DAY!

5.0 out of 5 stars CLOONEY AND PFEIFFER ARE WONDERFUL TOGETHER!, February 13, 2003
By
Pinktulip "Cat" (Chattanooga, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Fine Day (DVD)
This a wonderful film to watch no matter what time of year it is. Melanie, Pfeiffer, is a single mom trying to juggle a time consuming job and a precocious little boy. Jack ,Clooney, is a newspaper reporter and part-time father who not only hasn't grown up but is having problems taking responsibility for is energetic daughter. Where does this lead.. Well, Melanie is suppose to pick up Maggie ,Clooney's daughter, and Jack was suppose to call Melanie to let her know that the plans were changed. Neither have ever met the other due to the fact that they only know of each other through Jack's ex-wife. The unforseen delay causes the children to be late for their school field trip. Now, they both have a busy workday ahead of them and nowhere for the children to stay. This is when the movie starts to heat up. The attraction between Melanie and Jack is apparent, but they both are weary and cynical. The movie spans 24 hours, in which both have to deal with several important issues and eventually learn that your children come first. Oh, and that love is just around the corner. This is a wonderfully fun movie, with a witty dialogue and talented cast.

4.0 out of 5 stars One Fine Day - A Valentine Day Pick, February 23, 2002
One Fine Day soundtrack is a collection of modern and oddie romantic tunes. I have to say this CD would be perfect for the loved one on Valentines' Day. All the songs in the CD will pulsate your heart and bring a warm feeling to your flesh. My best favorites are the four tracks:

Track 03-For The First Time (Kenny loggins) will definitely be one of the pieces featured in my wedding! "For the first time, when I'm looking in your eyes....I can't believe how much I see...but you're looking back at me....I understand what love is, for the first time." The most romantic moment would be when your special someone sings this song to you. Beautiful tune.

Track 07-Have I Told You Lately (Van Morrison) is another favorite in this soundtrack. Van Morrison has put a softer touch to this romantic tune. I must say that I'm somewhat biased because Van Marrison has been one of my favorite artists.

Track 09-What A Difference A Day Made (Tony Benett) this is another oddie favorite. It's a pleasant surprise to have found this piece included in a modern love story.

Track 14-Suite from One Fine Day. This is the only music score/instrumental in the entire soundtrack. It corresponds to the end credit of the movie. Sort of like a reprise of all the tunes played in the movie. Still heart-touching and captivating.
I appreciate all the songs in the soundtrack. It could be one of the sappiest soundtrack ever released!

Not every night is not Oscar night. Its good to enjoy something from time to time that warms your heart and doesn't stress your brain.

One Fine Day is a pleasant romantic comedy that fits the bill. Sit back, get a little warm and fuzzy, and let your brain relax.

5.0 out of 5 stars The romantic movie of the 90's, April 25, 2002
This review is from: One Fine Day (DVD)
I have to say that this movie is one of the the best romantic movies evr made not just in the 90's but in the movie history. The story is simple and uncomplicated that makes the movie great, because it could possibly happen to anyone. Michelle and George are perfetly cast, both oozing megawatt charisma. It's impossible to hate the two. I think their pairing is one of the best. Michelle has never been so likable and i think is a must see to all her fans. Part of the greatness of this film is the charming prescence of the 2 kids, they are awesome. Bottom line: I guarantee you that you'll enjoy this movie, whether watch it alone or with someone. And it still works with repeated viewing!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Surprise, August 26, 1999
By A Customer
I bought this CD just to get "This Guys In Love With You" by Harry C. Who, in my opinion, is one of the greatest artist alive. Anyhow, when I got this CD, Harry's song was great, and every other song on this CD is just as good. An awesome soundtrack from an awesome movie. Buy the movie and the soundtrack!

5.0 out of 5 stars One Fine Day, November 11, 2003
This review is from: One Fine Day (DVD)
My husband and I both watched "One Fine Day" and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of acting and plot. This movie had more depth than most people probably notice. There was the superficial romance, and comedy. Then the underlying story of the career chase at the expense of family.
I wasn't sure just how it would be resolved and was happy to see that in the end family won out. This is a must see in this day and age when parents of both sexes tend to put everything else before their home commitments. The consequences of power grabs was shown in a very realistic way. I know. I've seen it close up with people I know and maybe this movie would be a good gift, subtle hint, to someone you know who could use a little push to make wiser decisions of their own. Who knows, it might just be the impetus needed to save a family from the problems that happen when career trumps home life.
One of the best movies that I've seen George Clooney in, next to Perfect Storm. He can actually act. Michelle Pfeiffer brought more talent to this film than I've usually seen from her also. The best plots seem to bring out the best in actors. What a great vehicle for actors, and the improvement of family life in this day and age. It deserved a PG rating and will be part of my home collection.

When I saw the movie- the first thing that hit me was the beauty of the intro song (One fine day) sang by Nathalie Merchant..wow! then "Hove I told you lately?" sang by Van morrison, which is a nice change form the Rod teward version.. and then tehre is Ella Fitzgerald singing "Isn't romantic?" just for this song the cd is priceless!! have u tried finding it in recollections? i tried and its almost hopeless.
