More About the Author

Isabel Sharpe was not born pen in hand like so many of her fellow authors. After she quit work in 1994 to stay home with her first-born son and nearly went out of her mind, she started writing. Yes, she was the clich'd bored housewife writing romance, but it was either that clich' or seduce the mailman, and her mailman was unattractive. After more than twenty novels for Harlequin, and the exciting new direction of women-focused stories for Avon/HarperCollins, Isabel admits her new mailman is gorgeous, but she's still happy with her choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another bravo to Ms. Sharpe! She has a wonderful sense of humour that makes her books a true delight., November 25, 2011
This review is from: One Fine Prey / Two Catch a Fox (Duets, 75) (Paperback)
One Fine Prey by Isabel Sharpe
Harlequin Duets # 75 - May 2002

This is the story of kooky Allegra. She's convinced herself that deep down she's really a "normal" person; that her flamboyant fashion sense and bubbly nature are just fronts for her very insecure self. She needs someone like John Tyler Jones; who is sophisticated and grounded, to help her change her image.

Allegra's magic moment happens one afternoon while leaving her business aka spiritual advisor. He was just suddenly there, walking toward her with a woman. That eye contact was enough to put Allegra in a tizzy. Now she needs help from her advisor on how to track this man down. Poor John Tyler Jones doesn't know what hit him. Turns out Allegra's spiritual advisor is also John's landlady and she threatens him with eviction if he doesn't go out with her.

What a delight Allegra is! She sure has John all tied up in knots .... suddenly he's not so sure that the ultra conservative woman he's been dreaming about is really the woman of his dreams. Bravo to Ms. Sharpe. These two characters come alive and are a true pleasure to read. I think I was grinning from ear to ear from page one right to the end!

Two Catch a Fox by Isabel Sharpe

The last two of the Manhunter's Club; Cynthia and Missy. Missy is horribly shy and addicted to the personal ads, but would never have the nerve to answer one. Cynthia is bold and ambitious; she wants to be the Business Person of the Year.

Adam is a recovered workaholic. An early heart attack woke him up and now he takes the time to smell the roses. Ken is a hopeless romantic and pinning over a girlfriend who recently dumped him. Adam in a weak moment, takes Ken in. When Ken starts spouting off a bunch of romantic goblety-gook, Adam jots it down and sends it in to the personals.

It's love at first read! That wonderful Manhunter moment has struck. Missy is swooning with every word in Ken's ad. But she's too shy to answer it. When Cynthia asks her what she would reply if she could, Missy has a reply of sweet poetry. Of course, Cynthia picks up the phone calls the ad's message box, and reads off Missy's reply.

Adam pushes Ken to retrieve his messages from the ad but he's to shy to even listen to them. Adam gets a knot in his throat when he hears Cynthia's sexy voice reciting Missy's poetry. He can't believe that voice belongs to those words! And the words have Ken drooling and that ex girlfriend is long forgotten.

Now the fun really begins Ken, of course, is too shy to call the number Cynthia left and Missy was too shy to have her own number left in her message, so the matchmaking friends agree to pretend to be each other. Adam calls Cynthia to set up the date. When Cynthia answers the phone it's definitely a Manhunter moment. She can't believe that Missy's man of her dreams sounds just like what her man of her dreams should sound like. Of course, the first date is set up as a double date so that Ken and Missy can bring along their best friends. The date is hilarious. I laughed so loud, my John looked up and asked me share the joke.
