Good Album,
This review is from: The One (Audio CD)
Frankie J. has a very nice voice, and his voice is clearly suited for R&B music, period. He has a nice range and he always sounds good against the contemporary R&B backdrop in which the producers craft for him. At times, per many contemporary R&B artists, Frankie J.'s album grows a bit too contemporary. Also, there are too many references to Frankie J.'s name on a majority of the tracks.
My favorite tracks are "Obsession" feat. Baby Bash, The Spanish version, "The One", "How To Deal", and "Without You". Overall, this is an enjoyable listen all the way through with some less outstanding material. This album does fall short compared to Frankie J.'s major competition-- Usher. However, this is a strong album if not completely outstanding. This album falls somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

Fantastic cd,

I was genuinely impressed with this cd. I had heard of some of frankie j's songs... mainly the two featuring baby bash, so when I saw that this cd had both of those songs I decided to check it out. I'm so glad that I did. It really is a quality cd. Frankie J has a smooth voice and the music is fantastic. There are ballads and some songs that have urban themes to them. I definitely would recommend trying it out.

I bought this cd back in March in the States on the day of it's release and I'm so glad I did. He's a good singer and the songs on here are great. Not all are great, but the majority. I think it's still only early stages for Frankie J even though this isn't his first cd, but it's going to take some time to come into his own. Sure there are a couple of Usher-esque type sounding songs, but overall, this is a job well done.

Frankie J is a very talented artist. He made a great debut. The One is a good album, but it could be better. Frankie has a great voice and style. You can feel his music. He puts a lot into his work. I have to say though...he needs better production. Don't get me wrong though...there are some very good tracks on the album (i.e. How To Deal, On The Floor, Story of My life, etc.) But in all fairness a little more than half of this album is good. With the write promotion and a little time, he'll get better like old wine. Good album to have. you'll listen to it. just not all the tracks. I still listen to it. A lot.

Really good, but . . . missing a bit of Latin flavor that would set Frankie J. apart from the pack,

One has to admit that Frankie J. has a great voice, and his sophomore solo album offers songs to dance to and sing along with, not to mention lots of melodrama to please the prepubescent girls interested only in his good looks. What is more, because of Frankie J's legitimate soulful vocals, "The One" is able to do the pop thing without losing its R&B credibility. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the album was able to peak at #3 on the "Billboard 200" in April 2005.
Nevertheless, one thing is sorely missing from "The One". . . SPANISH. Excluding the chorus in Obsession (No Es Amor) and the Spanish version bonus track, this album is virtually devoid of any Latin flavor. That was a mistake. At the end of the day, Frankie J. (a Mexican immigrant) only has one advantage over all of the other great-looking, talented, R&B acts struggling to shatter (or cash in on) the reign of Usher and R. Kelly: Frankie J. is Latin. Unlike most other artists, Frankie J. can sing and speak in Spanish, and he can make it sound believable and R&B. English speaking fans would eat that up. Plus, more Spanish would increase his airplay on the ever-more important Spanish formatted radio stations . . . in Los Angeles the only Frankie J. getting serious airplay is---not surprisingly---Obsession (No Es Amor) en español (oh, and Frankie's Spanish version of his remake of "More Than Words"). Just as the English speaking community is hungry for more Latin styles, the Spanish-speaking community is ready for some R&B flavor (as is evidenced by the popularity of the closest thing to R&B in Latin music---another Mexican singer, Kalimba).

I am so glad I went out and bought the first CD Frankie J put out. I didn't really know of him but I absolutely loved and related to "Don't Wanna Try" and now with his new CD... So glad he didn't disappoint his fans. I can honestly say I can put this CD in and not skip any songs. Great Job!!! My only gripe is that he should've put "Supa Love" on this CD. A lot of people don't even know about that song and it is the most amazing song I've ever heard. They really should've thought of putting that song on this album, instead of three versions of Obsession. Like many Frankie J fans, I am a ballad queen, love slow songs. But the upbeat songs on this album are hot and so modern. I am very happy with this purchase. And the fact that he's a fellow Latino, is just gravy. So proud.

I remember seeing this CD around but never really gave it a second thought until my friend told me about it. Ever since I brought it I've been listening to it and I gotta admitt its a lot better than I had thought it would be. My favorites include Obession (No Es Amor), the spanish version as well, The One, How to deal which kind of reminds me of Usher's Burn, and Without you. I can listen through this whole album without skipping a track so that's alwayz a plus. If you like contemporary r&b music get this, you won't regret it!!!

frankie j, the r&b man, the #1 r&b person in the entire world.
that would have been the scenario if usher wasn't around. well, it doesn't really matter, because "the one", frankie j's new album, is still really great. obsession, his major #1 hit, starts off the album, and is a wonderful, r&b song for all people. anyway, the rest of the album is also powerful with songs like "how to deal", "story of my life", and "don't wanna try". hey, if that doesn't get you, you migth wanna know that not only is dont wanna try on the album , but also....... "suga suga", baby bash's HUGE hit, obsession in spanish (almost better than the original), and the great obsession dance mix. i reccomend this great cd to all ages, anyone who wants a powerful, creative, cd that shows frankie j's true inside.

This album seriously is "The One".It has really started his career.Every Song on this CD iz excellent. My favorite song from this Cd iz "how to deal" it jus makes U think if U listen to the wordz.Every song has a different feeling and emotion 2 it."Gone" makes U kind of sad if U listen 2 the words and the way Frankie j singz it."obsession" iz a song that showz how some people get confused about being in luv."On the floor" makes U wanna get up and dance it takes all your worries away and makes U wanna go out and partay!!!! "How to deal" makes U think about your past relationships it talks about someone not wanting to do something because they wanna be with someone but at the same time they do want to do it but they dont want to leave the person they luv."Without U" talks about someone not being loyal to the person they luv and that person ends up leaving them and hes sayin he doesnt know what hes gonna do wit out dem."The one" talks about how a guy and a girl luv each other and how they feel about each other."Story of my life" says that not knowing what hes been through and it talks about how important family is."#1 fan" talks about him being at a club and seeing a girl and he likes her so much he says hes her # 1 fan."Just cant say its love" talks about a guy and a girl being together and liking each other but the just cant say itz luv."In the moment" talks about two people who started as friends but then thing started getting a little serious between them it sayz they find them selves caught up in the moment. There are some bonus tracks on the cd. One of them is "Dont wanna try" his very first single, another is "Suga Suga" with Baby Bash. The last 2 are "Obsession {spanish version}" and "Obsession {Reggaetton version" The spanish version is kind of different from the english version. The raggaetton version is a mix of english and spanish but with a fast beat that you can dance to and you might hear it at the club.Well thatz my review on "The one" If you dont have it I suggest you go out and get it the second youre done reading this.
