I love this book! As the parent of a food-allergic[...] and the director of a nonprofit whose mission is to educate schools on food allergy safety [...], I see first-hand how important it is to not lose sight of our kids' emotional well-being. Often, we focus exclusively on the medical side of food allergies, doing all we can to prevent a potentially life-threatening reaction and to prepare others for how to deal with a reaction should one occur. This wonderful book reminds us what it feels like to just want to be "one of the gang," all the while maintaining a postive, "can do" attitude. Ms. Clowes' book is an excellent resource for families, schools, and camps alike.

When I read this book by Gina Clowes, it really inspired me as a parent to remind my kids that they can be anything they want to be! I've lived with a food allergy for the past 30 years and it never stopped me from aspiring to reach my goals - its a really inspiring read - uplifting and "nuturing" Thanks Gina for creating this - everyone with food allergies in their families should pick up a copy. We included a book review on the website, [...] as we believe the kids with allergies could all use a bit of inspiration!

This book is so well done. It is exactly what we have been looking for, as it puts it on the child's level and makes them feel as special as they are. My son noticed the boy on the cover had a bracelet like him and his face lit up! He loves it. It truly is a must have if you have a child with food allergies.

I bought this book for my son to take to school since his friends were telling him he could eat all the foods they were eating... Some friends even told him that the foods they ate were "safe" for him. Little did they know! This book helped to explain the world of allergies to everyone, and to make sure that the food allergic child did not feel "left out". It helped to show my son that even though he is different in some ways, there are successful people around him with the same food challenges. My son at 3, was a bit young for the book, but it was a great start to helping him understand he not so different, afterall!
