Country Music's Greatest Voices Together "ONE" Last Time,
By A Customer
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
It cannot be put into words what this album brings to country music or the person that listens to it. I purchased it when it first came out. I cried and laughed. "One" is one of the most beautiful love songs I've ever heard. "Whatever Happened To Us" cut deep into my emotions and soul. The loss of Tammy Wynette is almost too much to bear. I listen to this album now and I am overwhelmed by the fact that we will never hear another album from Tammy. No chance of another reunion with George. Buy this album. Cherish and treasure it.

The last of the best of duet partners,

Porter and Dolly were great. Loretta and Conway were great. But George and Tammy were beyond great. Thank God they were able to get together one last time to record this fabulous album. It certainly is a treasure.

The Reunion Tour '95,
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
George and Tammy's reunion tour of 1995 was a major event. This album hit #12 on the charts and the tour played to thousands of people all over the U.S. and Canada. Inspired by the initial "reunion" of the two in 1994 on the remake of "Golden Ring" on George's 'Bradley Barn Sessions' CD, it's been said that Nancy {George's wife} orchestrated the whole reunion tour. Whoever is responsible should be glad. "One", "Solid as a Rock", "They're Playing Our Song", "Whatever Happened To Us?", and "All I Have To Offer You Is Me" are my favorites. "Just Look What We've Started Again" is also good. However, songs like that aren't as believable coming from a duo who had long been married to other people. Had that song and "Whatever Happened To Us" been on an album in the late '70s or even 1980 it may have had a different meaning. This isn't to say the songs aren't any good...it's just that George and Tammy's songs have usually been geared toward what the public might be thinking of their private life at that moment. When you hear people refer to the fact that the couple's marriage was set to music, they aren't joking! "ONE" is a great album with great songs despite the fact that some of these songs could have been monster hits had they been recorded in the '70s.

The Magic Now is Gone,
By Jeffree Stephan (GR Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
Never again will the magic of these two voices be joined in song again. The blend of these two out-standing voices show that they put their ALL into there singing!! I would tell you my favorites but, I am unable to choose because they are ALL great songs. It's a shame country radio did not give it the airplay it rightly deserved.

Genuine Country Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: One (Audio CD)
This album has all of the humor and heartache that The President and First Lady were known for in their '70's collaborations. Unlike the cut-and-paste shlock of today's fast-food "artists," this album can be listened to again and again, and only becomes more pleasurable with time. This is a necessity for any country purist, and a joy for anyone who doesn't just listen, but FEELS music.

The last Tammy album,

It seems fitting that Tammy's last album was a collection of duets with George, the most famous of her ex-husbands. By the time this album was recorded, George and Tammy had both found happiness in different marriages and had reconciled their differences. Although Tammy had a long history of health problems, we were not to know that this would be Tammy's last album, but it's brilliant. There are original songs here including the excellent title track, while the covers include a couple of Charley Pride's biggest hits (She's just an old love turned memory, All I have to offer you is me). The overall feel of the album is upbeat, reflecting their mood at the time. This album wasn't quite the end of Tammy's career - the last song Tammy ever recorded was In my room, in which she teamed up with the Beach Boys to sing one of their oldies. Nevertheless, this excellent album is essential for fans of both George and Tammy.

This was to be the very last cd recorded by the late great Tammy Wynette, along with ex-husband, the legendary George Jones. The cd is perfection all the way. The two brought out the best in each other vocally. After many years passed since they last recorded together, the two voices blended perfectly. It also didn't hurt that each song was great. From the uptempo songs to the heartfelt ballads, the cd was perfect. I am so glad this cd exist, for the many fans of both artists. They both recaptured the magic when they sang these songs. Sadly, it was to be her final swan song, but oh what a swansong indeed. I feel sorry for anyone that did not discover this cd event of a lifetime, it's pure magic. It cuts to the heart and touches it in profound ways.

I love George and Tammy. I was fortunate enough to see them together in Huntington WV when they were doing their One tour. I have had this CD since that time. If you are a George and Tammy fan this is a must for your collection.

In my opinion this is the best duet album George Jones and Tammy Wynette ever made, it is up beat and a more current to todays music. Sad this will be the last of their blended voice, but a job well done!
