5.0 out of 5 stars Geat novel for kids about a dog raised to help people
Anyone crazy about dogs will love this book! It's about a girl and her mom raising a puppy that one day will help someone in a wheelchair. It's great to find a book with real people with real emotions. And lots of drama as the girl isn't sure she wants to give up the dog when the time comes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice portrayal of puppy raising, April 28, 2000

This is a great book for children who are interested in dogs, and is perfect for anyone who wants to know what puppy raising is like. The story follows a golden retriever from puppy to adult, and also shows the work, joy, and sorrow involved in raising a puppy to be an assistance dog.

Any dog lover would enjoy this book. It was well-written and you could feel the joy as well as sorrow at certain parts of this story. I loved reading it, it's such a great book. I also learned quite a few things about dog training (for helper dogs).

This book is about a golden Retriever that was loved very much by a little girl named, Caitlin. Caitlin is a very kind and loving girl who needed a friend. Later on she had found a very perfect friend and that friend had soon broke Caitlin¡¯s heart. Albion was a lonely puppy out in the streets when all of a sudden Caitlin came in his life and changed everything about their poor little life. This book is very interesting because this book had encouraged me in thanking myself for having more than one friend. This book had taught me a lot. Albion reminds me of this one girl named Sharon. He reminds me of her because they are so similar with me and Sharon¡¯s friendship. I liked how everything was exactly set up how friendship starts and ends. This book had been the same with Sharon¡¯s and my friendship except that Albion and Caitlin are in a very serious situation. Albion and Caitlin shares very happy moments with each other and had a very enjoyable time spending it together. Caitlin gets into a situation where she has to leave Albion and this is not a happy moment for Caitlin and Albion. This book gets me very curious in those types of problems.
I disliked this book because this book had too many problems that would be an obvious conclusion. Although, this book had got me very interested when I didn¡¯t know what would happen but this particular book kept me reading even though I knew what would happen. Many times I would just think of my own personal experiences with friends and I would know what is going on. Every time I start reading this book it reminds me of the exact same trouble I had with friendship. I enjoyed reading this book because it is so familiar to personal life and it enjoys me from reading my own life. Caitlin had asked, ¡°Can¡¯t you just leave Albion here?¡± That was an obvious answer and you can tell what is going to happen next. Another quote is ¡°I¡¯ll buy you another puppy that is smarter and cuter.¡± This quote obviously was said by, her dad and Caitlin didn¡¯t want another puppy she wanted Albion.
I liked how this book was based on a couple on things. This book was based on animals, love, adventure, and friendship. This book had taught me many things while reading it. I enjoyed everything that is about animals because I enjoy what they do. Everything they do is very special to me and it helps me with many things in life. I have a thing with animals in books. When I see a book with a animal in front of it I start reading it even though your not suppose to judge a book by it¡¯s cover, this helps. I thought that this book would be an ordinary dog loving book because of it¡¯s cover but once I got to read it, it was very interesting and very helpful in friendship. People might say they already know by their own experiences isn¡¯t it fun to read other peoples?
My favorite part in this book is when they have fun with each other. I think that is a very good part because, they all have fun and they don¡¯t know what is going to happen. There is a part that I don¡¯t like about this and it is when they leave each other. When they leave each other they make it so dramatic and it is not sad anymore. Like for example, Caitlin always brings her dog up in everything they talk about. Albion leaves her as if he is leaving his life and Caitlin leaves him like she is leaving her soul. They both really love each other and I know for myself that I would be really sad if anyone I love would just leave me like that but it¡¯s obvious that they are going to meet back and they do. Well, that is the conclusion of the story and it is a very happy ending like how stories usually end. I think they should change the ending into like they pass each other, Albion is with a new owner, and they don¡¯t see each other and that¡¯s how it ends, I wish it ends like that. The conclusion in my eyes should change. I liked how everything was set up and how this whole story was very similar to my personal life. I enjoyed reading this book a lot and I had a fun time learning from it.
