A good man is hard to find,
By
This review is from: One Good Man (Harper Monogram) (Paperback)
The hero's wife hires the heroine to seduce him. The H is a very devout Catholic, and the wife knows he will not divorce her. To him, marriage is for a lifetime, a vow not to broken, no matter how untenable a marriage has become. His devious wife is so greedy and wants to catch him in a compromising situation so she can take his company away from him.
The hero is unhappy in his marriage, and he really doesn't understand how his marriage has deteriorated like this. The wife is a real bi*** to him, no other way to put it. I'm not one to ever say someone should cheat, emotionally or physically, but if ever a man deserved to find whatever small, true bit of love or kindness he could outside a marriage, it would be this man. He is such a good man, and a principled man. To bring her plan to fruition, the wife hires the heroine, who is completely gorgeous and sexy, to be H's personal secretary/assistant, so they are together all the time at work, sharing an office, working into the night. He is such a good man and is so torn up about his attraction for this other woman. He catches himself staring at her, dreaming about her, and wanting to be with her. He feels so guilty about it that he even goes to church to pray and to confess. I felt so bad for this Hero. He gets betrayed by everyone he loves and cares about. Out of all the characters in the book, including the h, this man is the only truly good person, the one most honorable. As for the h, she does have her reasons for taking the job in the first place. She finds herself in the situation of having no money or job prospects, and, having always been used and objectified by men since she was an early-maturing teen, she thinks this husband probably deserves whatever happens. Then she meets H and sees that he's the finest man she has ever known. She finally finds that one good man. This is a very good book full of angst, guilt, betrayal, and conflicted emotions, but there is also a love story that survives all that, with a deserved HEA for H/h.

Nice Read,
By A Customer
This review is from: One Good Man (Harper Monogram) (Paperback)
I read this book 5 years ago and liked it very much. This is a book about loyalty and trust. The main evil is money and what people will be willing to do for it. The writing is very good and the characters are well developed and you realy care about them. Two days ago, looking for a book in my vast library I decided to re-read this book. I still believe it is worth reading it when you have nothing else available. All in all a nice romance.
