Underfoot - under appreciated,
By Frank Hall (Greensboro, North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Hand Clapping (Audio CD)
One Hand Clapping is a fine example of great music without a niche. Very crisp and well written, this album is representative of what you can expect from an Underfoot live show. Most of the collection was recored live at the bands mainly mid-sized club shows. Acoustic without being soft. Intelligent without being pompus. Comparisons to the Dave Matthews Band are due mainly to the fact that the guitar player/singer/song writer once played in the Boyd Tinsley Band. This album, however, has it's own identity. You won't hear much of it on the radio. But you should.

Underfoot defines the meaning of alternative-acoustic,
By A Customer
This review is from: One Hand Clapping (Audio CD)
Underfoot is the greatest band Maryland has seen since Jimmie's Chicken Shack. Although Dana Biagini is no longer with them, they still maintain their original sound. The album can send you into a trance thinking about the heartfelt lyrics while at the same time keeping you awake with Noel White's amazing drumming. Brian Wagoner is one of the most creative guitarists today using his acoustic guitar as an outlet to the great music and poetry in his mind. If there is any band that deserves much attention, it is Underfoot.

Soul Stirring,

Underfoot is the epitome of a true alternative band. While most "alternative" acts carelessly craft songs without meaning or heart, Brian, Dana and Noel create music that is not only emotionally compelling, but different than most anything else. While thier first release on Fowl records, "still green," showcases the band's studio prowess, "one hand clapping" focuses mainly on the emotional live act these men have graced the town of Annapolis with for years. It's amazing the sound that 3 people can make.

Underfoot combines incredible lyrics with music that will have you wanting to hear more of them and see them live. The best money we've ever spent on a cd.

One Hand Clapping starts off with the searing and surging "Gravity," a song that describes the adrenaline, fear, and ecstacy of a skydive free fall, then moves on to ten live songs that lulled this listener into a seductive trance. The last track, "Between Epiphanies," left me wondering what more could possibly be said in lyric. Awesome!

very dissapointing live record. groove? where? ive seen the band live and the singer seems to have little interest in engaging the audience/listener or interacting with the band for that matter. i found most of the performances on the CD stale and even pretentious at times. please forgive my spelling.
