Book Description

July 1, 2004
A bookstore that hides more than dusty old tomes among its shelves . . . a phantom limb that can reach into the next world . . . a comic that colors lives with terror . . . graves unable to hold their content . . . a collector of haunted artifacts who gets more than he bargains for . . . a deserted northern highway that brings back a man's worst childhood fears . . . a multitude of unleashed horrors on All Hallows Eve . . . an encounter with the bogeyman . . . and more . . . This collection of chilling fiction and disturbing poetry from the dark mind of Mark Leslie includes previously published award nominees along side original works.

Editorial Reviews

Review

" . . . an exciting new voice . . . a wonderful writer, and a joy to read." -- Robert J. Sawyer, author of HOMINIDS

"His stories are well written, skillfully told, and satisfyingly good to the last word." -- Edo van Belkom, author of BLOOD ROAD

"If there's a dark corner, Leslie will draw you to it, even against your will." -- Nancy Kilpatrick, author of THE POWER OF THE BLOOD series

"Leslie paints his characters with compassion, then sends a chill down the spine. Highly reccommended." -- Julie E. Czerneda, author of HIDDEN IN SIGHT

From the Inside Flap

"Prepare to be haunted by a master of suspense" - Julie E. Czerneda, author of SURVIVAL

Mark Leslie has a knack for creating chills. His fiction is like bare bones caressing the skin; creating a shiver here, a delicious northerly tickle there . . . take his book to bed with you and I guarantee you'll find more than shivers between the sheets; if you stretch your toes down far enough to the end of the bed, you never know what might grab back. Beware dark corners, empty alley ways, lonely streets, the quiet room . . . when Mark beckons for you to take his literary hand in yours. Yes, reach out and touch the bones . . . because you want to; you will be frightened, but you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mark Leslie makes being scared so much fun, October 15, 2006
By
P. Berinstein (Agoura, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: One Hand Screaming (Paperback)
Being creeped out was never so much fun. I can just see Mark Leslie
sitting in his dimly lit study, devilishly dreaming up these clever
tales of suspense, each ending with a welcome twist. Included in this
slim but brimming volume is a haunted bookstore, a magic mirror, a slave
race of tortured snowmen, a well-meaning widower whose promise to his
dying wife goes wrong, an extremely funny-macabre rewritten Elvis lyric,
and more. A special treat comes in the form of the end notes, in which
Mark explains how each tale was written. Mark is currently hard at work
on A Canadian Werewolf in New York; I can't wait to see how it turns out.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: One Hand Screaming (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book. I don't read too much horror, but I was recommended this book by a friend and once I got a few pages into it I couldn't put it down. You won't regret addind this book to your collection.
