4.0 out of 5 stars North Carolina on the Rise, January 21, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: One Hot Minute: North Carolina Hip-Hop 1 (Audio CD)
"One Hot Minute" is a unique cd largely because there aren't a lot of samplers of NC hip hop artists available. Plus it's a double cd. The overall effect is a little uneven but I gave it 4 stars because where else could you hear such a range of artists including:

Armed Soulijahs, Boog Brown, Mr. Dev'Yon, Felony Shine, Fran D., Ike-n-Shyst, ill Beingz, Iodine & Thug Vegas, Kaze, Knotty Brovas, Laidback Synicate, Lil' Real, Mashanda Favors, Rayted-R, Smokwun, Sniper and Larry Pickett

You know? And that's just part of the list. It does tend to focus on the Triangle, that's Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill. Apparently they're doing a follow up at some point and maybe that will expand the geographic range cause hip hop's happening all over NC.

Actually my biggest complaint is that these guys put out a cd to represent NC but apparently didn't bother to give Amazon any real information. I know that's not an aesthetic issue but WHAT?!?!

Peace
An NC Hip Hop Head living elswhere for the moment.
