5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely powerful and uplifting book on Jewish observance, June 8, 1998
This review is from: One Jew's Power One Jew's Glory: The Life of Rav Yitzchak Shumuel Eliyahu Finkler the Rebbe of Radoschitz in the Ghetto and Concentration Camps (Hardcover)
This book was very special for me....it is an extremely powerful and energizing account of an Hasidic rabbi and what he did to help fellow jews before and during the Holocaust in Poland. It also documents through very good research how he continued to keep mitzvot during these brutally severe times. Examples include wearing tefillin and davening in concentration camps, buying a ram's head and making and blowing the shofar during Rosh Hashana, fasting during Yom Kippur, baking matza during Passover, lighting candles for Hanukah, not eating any food from the concentration camp kitchens since they were not kosher, and building and eating in a succah during Succos. Very powerful and unbelievable...and very personally motivating.
