About the Author

For fourteen years, Jane Mitchell has explored the hearts, souls, and scrapbooks of high-profile athletes and rising stars for the television program One on One with Jane Mitchell. Now, with her signature style, twenty-six Emmys, and a wide spectrum of fans, she has put a selection of athletes' stories and more in a book. In One on One, Jane tells her story of becoming a journalist, of her personal and professional challenges, risks and joy of the enviable job of covering athletes, the most unlikely subject because she was not always a sports fan.

Jane is a legend in San Diego! From her days as a child living in a military family to helping start up a TV station from the ground up, her story is captivating and shows all her struggles & successes along the way. After that you can read some of her greatest interviews. With the likes of Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn, Ozzie Smith, Dave Winfield, Trevor Hoffman, Drew Brees, LaDanian Tomlinson, Adrian Gonzalez and many many more, there's something here for everyone!

One on One: My Journey with Hall of Famers, Fan Favorites and Rising Stars

Wow! This is an absolutely amazing book! There is nothing else like it. Jane Mitchell's inspiring story is captivating, refreshing honest and completely open. Then, it is followed by her interviews with many of the top sports people in the country. Athletes like Drew Brees, LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Gonzalez and Tony Gwynn open up to Jane and share their stories. She even interviewed their family, friends and other athletes/coaches. You can read their words, not somebody else's interpretation. She truly tells the good sports story like it has never been told before. This is a book for sports fans, non-sports fans, journalism students and anyone looking for a little inspiration.

Just finished reading Jane's book. Filled with captivating and personal stories of some of MLB and NFL greats. Living in San Diego, I was especially delighted to read about Tony Gwynn and Ted Williams, two of the best-ever swings in baseball. From Jr Seau to Drew Brees--this book rocks! I highly recommend it.
