Alas, not their best effort (3.75 stars), August 22, 2003
This review is from: One Lie Fits All (Enhanced) (Audio CD)
First things first: this is not One Minute Silence's best recording. It did take me a while to fall in love with Buy Now...Saved Later, so I put off writing a review for this in hopes that I'd eventually love this CD as well. But to be honest, it's just not as good as their previous two. I too had heard a bunch of these songs from their prior singles and expected great things from the full recording. They continue their manipulative disapproval with society, not only in the songs, but even in the CD's title: One Lie Fits All. The lyrics are continually great and the music (for the most part) blends nicely with it, but not all the songs flow as brilliantly as an "I Wear My Skin" or a "We Bounce".
1. Fistful Of Nothing - 3.5/5 - a good opener with some intriguing guitar work, and, yes, excellent lyrics. Still, it's not as good as the next two.
2. Revolution - 5/5 - for good reason, was the first `single' to be released. Everything works perfectly here; it ends up being second best behind...
3. I Wear My Skin - 5/5 - my personal favorite song on the album. I love the `punch back / punch back' part, and the guitar work is again flawless.
4. Way Back - 3/5 - a bit too slow of a start that doesn't quite measure up to Buy Now...Saved Later's "On Deaf Ears" or "A Spoonful Of Sugar".
5. We Bounce - 4/5 - was the second single released, though it just doesn't outdo, musically, its predecessors. Great lyrics.
6. You So Much As Move - 3/5 - a lot like "Way Back"; therefore it doesn't amount to much.
7. Price Of The Kings Ticket - 3.5/5 - again, doesn't distinguish itself from the singles, but still good lyrics and music.
8. Into Our Own - 5/5 - just a great all-around song; the lyrics and music flow very nicely. Similar to "I Wear My Skin".
9. A Song About - 3/5 - it takes a while to figure out what this song's about (pun), and therefore it doesn't stand out.
10. The Hole Is A Hill - 2/5 - probably the weakest song on One Lie Fits All. It stays soft throughout, which is uncharacteristic of OMS.
11. Representing The Poor Man - 3.5/5 - I've never really been a big fan of slow starters, and in that you have a semi-decent finale, musically, with unbelievable lyrics.
I have always believed that One Minute Silence's lyrics were their strong point; the music just seemed to be an added bonus. On One Lie Fits All, you'll find excellent lyrics about politics, humanity, and civilization. But the music at hand just isn't as good as it was on Available In All Colors and Buy Now...Saved Later. The only great songs are "I Wear My Skin" and "Revolution", and even some of the b-sides on the I Wear My Skin singles were better than the ones here (i.e. "A-Z Revolution", "In The Boat"). If you love One Minute Silence you will undoubtedly enjoy this album and most of the songs But please don't expect it too outdo their previous albums.

Amazing is the best description, July 19, 2003

I heard quite a few of the songs before the cd came out via singles and digi-packs which only made me want the cd even more and kept it constantly on my mind. When I finally got the full cd, it blew me away! Every song is written, recorded and presented beautifully. Lyrics stay true to OMS and the music is equally as heavy as one would expect from them. This is their best yet! Definately worth buying, nay... this is definately a must-have cd. Do yourself a favor and obtain this album. You WILL NOT be disapointed.

Amazing!, October 19, 2010
This review is from: One Lie Fits All (Enhanced) (Audio CD)
Amazing album by an amazing band! One Minute Silence were one of my biggest influences in music period. This album was the most melodic of the three but they never made the same sounding album. While the musical path of One Minute Silence evolved into something more melodic, they never strayed away from what made them such a strong band. Although extremely talented musicians, Yap's lyrics and passion is what made them unique and beyond so many other bands today. Something about this band always gave me chills down my spine and even though they are no longer together every time I listen to their albums they still blow me away and take me to another place. There are many talented and great bands out there but none as important as this group as for what they did for me. I just pray for another album someday.
