5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!
I've heard all of Buckley's albums, and this one is my favorite. Listen to her magnificent, heartbreaking version of "Dreamin'" or "Come On Come On," her beautiful tones on "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry," or her riveting version of Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" to see what I mean.

1.0 out of 5 stars Self Indulgent Pap
Come and hear Sunset Boulevard songs slaughtered - 2 mega big songs crying out for the Big Voice and Big Orchestra and she goes and undersings them with plinky plonky piano as the only background. Streisand's versions wipe the floor with her. She's not even close. This style fits very uncomfortably with the rest of the album which on the whole is unlistenable. Only...

5.0 out of 5 stars Betty Buckley is without peer, March 10, 1999

Betty Buckley is the only singer who can move me to tears. My god what a voice! "Just One Look" is simply a feast for the ears. Kenny Werner's keyboard work is wonderful as is the sax of Billy Drewes. Buy it -- this is a beautiful recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Betty's voice can thrill you; it's downright addicting!, September 3, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: With One Look (Audio CD)
I first heard Betty Buckley sing when she was allowed to do a short song on an episode of "Eight is Enough" (the Dick Van Patten vehicle in which she played the second wife, Abby). I was enthralled then, and am downright addicted now, having listened to several of her CDs (over and over again) and seen her on Broadway in "Sunset Boulevard." Betty's voice sends chills up my spine, and makes me feel alive and expansive. Thank you, Betty!!!!!

For those not familiar with Betty's work, this CD is a good one to hear. She mixes pop music with showtunes, so if you aren't in love with Sondheim, there are other tunes you might like. The showtune "Old Friends" is one of my favorites on this CD. 5 stars for this collection of music!! Pure listening pleasure.

Only Come On Come On has any true grace or prescence. AVOID.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't call us, Betty.........., January 29, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: With One Look (Audio CD)
Having seen this woman perform on stage in London, I quickly came to the conclusion that she has the presence of a postage stamp. I don't know what inspired me to buy this album, but it is quickly consigned to the only listened to once category. Certainly NOT my cup of tea, and as the saying goes...."don't call us, love......"
