About the Author
Cedella Marley's life has always been rooted in music and culture. As the oldest child of Bob Marley, she has dedicated herself to keeping her father's message and memory alive. She is a musician as well, performing internationally with the three-time Grammy Award?winning Melody Makers, which consist of her brothers Ziggy and Steve and her sister Sharon. She lives in Miami, Florida, with her husband and three sons.
Bob Marley (1945 -1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. He remains the most widely known performer of reggae music. In 1994, Marley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2001, he was posthumously awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Vanessa Brantley-Newton is the author and illustrator of Let Freedom Sing and Don't Let Auntie Mable Bless the Table. She loves to craft, cook, collect vintage children's books, tell stories, make dolls, and shop. She lives in East Orange, New Jersey, with her husband, daughter, and two crazy cats, Kirby and Stripes.

Yes, it's that song and it's been reworked by that songwriter's daughter (take a second look at her last name if you think I joke.) Like some of the more popular songs of the Beatles, this one is both trite and profound in its simplicity. The illustrations are brilliantly colored and that lifts the song a bit out of its jarring repetition.

This is absolutely the best cross cultural children's book I have ever seen. My son in law is a big Bob Marley fan and he saw the book on Facebook. I ordered for my newborn grand daughter Marley and I was delighted. It is bright and cheerful and positive and has the most engaging illustrations. I ended up buying copies for several young children and new babies on my gift list. It is now my kids gift of choice. Can't go wrong with this. This book is fantastic! The pictures are great, and paired with Bob Marley's lyrics this book delivers a great message for all children. If your child is a fan of the song, they will be fascinated by how the illustrated story pairs with the lyrics. If not, why not?! It is a great introduction to the song, though, and really gives a visual to smaller listeners/readers. Great for Bob Marley fans and a very welcome book to our collection!
