With "One Love," Glay's latest musical offering is a wonderful mix of rock and pop music.

Fans of Glay's earlier period will enjoy the hard-edged rock and fast punk tunes such as "Wet Dream," "Prize," and "Mermaid." Fans of Glay's later and more experimental period will enjoy "Kimi ga Mitsumeta Umi," "VIVA VIVA VIVA," and "Mister Popcorn."

There are great moments when the pop sensibilities of main songwriter Takuro meet his more hard rock side in such numbers as "Global Communication" and the album's true highlight "Think about my Daughter," an infectious fast rock tune with melodies that wrap around the listener.

While the rock songs on this album are truly wonderful--"Stay Tuned" being one of the few songs that could have gone--the two ballads are not up to par with the usual Glay offerings. "All Standard is You" is a decent rock ballad even though at times Teru's voice seems tired. the only really clunker in the whole album is "Christmas Ring," a seasonal song, and not a very good one either.

With everything said, "One Love" is a must for all Glay fans. Those who are new to Glay would benefit from "Review" or "Drive Complete Best" before buying this one.

Once you get this album you can definitely hear the change that GLAY is trying to make in their music...I admit some songs sound a bit strange like Track 12 but after a while it just grows on you. Wet dream is a great song...not so pop unlike the past few albums (Don't mind the title though ^_^;). Highway No. 5 is one of my favorites; Jiro did a great job writing it, and Mermaid is a great one too. I recommend this album to all the GLAY fans especially the earlier fans that enjoyed Speed Pop and Hai to Diamonds because this album is more JRock than JPop.
