A Blessing to the World of Women's Fiction, May 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: One Love (Paperback)
This short, intense novel is frankly, a blessing to the world of women's fiction. Not that it's just for women - as the lessons contained certainly can be applied by anyone. If you buy this book, don't plan on putting it down for very long. It will draw you back into its engrossing pages before you know it! Janine has unfolded a plot taking us on a journey down the path to unconditional love - something we all undeniably wish for, but seem to have so much trouble achieving. We see the main character, Emily, a woman desperate for meaning in her life and craving for the once-loving relationship with her husband to return, move from darkness to light in a most unusual manner.
Nicholas is called a "soul in transition", but I preferred thinking of him as an angel - because he most certainly is! This angel appears through a picture to set a most intriguing stage, guiding Emily through some valuable lessons. It's impossible not to struggle right along with her from her once mundane, comfortable, married lifestyle to a new, genuine, fulfilling and challenging existence.
Tears streaked down my cheeks more than once during my passage through this novel and I am certain it will test each reader's emotions in the same manner. I felt a strong connection with Emily as she realized the woman she could become, the woman she did become, and the woman she will continue to become.
We each want to bloom, bring joy and love to those around us, and along the way "smell the roses". One Love gives us that opportunity. The author calls this novel a work of "healing fiction", which in my opinion is much too modest. One Love is totally enjoyable, enlightening, inspirational, and splendidly written. A mystical adventure filled with deep wisdom, this is a book you should not miss if you want to make your world a better place to live. I look forward to Janine's next novel with much anticipation!
