Tale of Two Dudes, December 6, 2002
This review is from: One Man (Audio CD)
TANK- ONE MAN With the death of Aaliyah Blackground Records biggest draw to consumers is TANK. His first CD "Forces of Nature" was definitely a pleasant surprise. Dude his a talent for slow jams and I was definitely lookin forward to this CD.... The first half of the CD is classic R&B. Great mid tempo and slow jam, Kenny Lattimore smooth love tunes. The second half of this CD is full of Cash Money, Cole Brown silliness. The CD starts good with the lead single "One Man". Track 4 "Supa Sexy" is a nice uptempo happy hour groove. Has some remnants of "Sexual healing" mixed into the cut. Track 5 "My place" might be the best song on the CD. He sings in this cool falsetto voice and the sax solos at the end are tighttttt! Track 7 "Cake and Ice Cream" is a cool cut also. Probably should be his next single. He's singin in like a quick rapid Twista kinda pace and essentially it's about a dude who is successfully maintaining 2 relationships at once. track 8 "Close" is another Tank specialty slow jam. Very sensual jam. track 9 "I'm the reason" goes back to his "Maybe I Deserve" formula of taking the blame for his failed relationships. Track 10 "Make me wanna sing " is a loose remake of Minnie Ripperton's "Lovin U". It features Sparkle and she actually does a good job. It showed some versatility to change that song up a bit without screwin it up royalty. NOW. If the CD stopped here, maybe added another CD filler song I'd say this was a must have CD! BUT NO!... The tracks by themselves are ok. Definitely destroyed by the Baby influence on these tracks. Where was the connection here?? the only track I feel in this mix is a Track 14, "No Why". It's about a dude tryin to get back with his woman after he goes Ike Turner on her. Overall I liked the CD. But he had to mess it up a little bit, had to show his thug side.

If you don't have the cd by now, get it already! It's wonderful! It's everything you were feeling and couldn't put into words. If you like some real singing, creativity, great songs and heart-felt lyrics, then you need this album in your collection. If you don't like it, then you just can't be pleased!

This Is A Must Have For Both Men & Women, October 15, 2005
This review is from: One Man (Audio CD)
Men & women the Tank is full and we're ready for take off. Tank didn't it, what we were hoping He was going to do with "Forces of Nature" He did it with "One Man". This is one of the best displays of song writing & vocal talent I've ever heard. Tank is talented and not just a one hit wonder with "Maybe I Deserve". This CD has everthing you need to set the mood or just chill and have a good time. Honestly, men have a CD that they can give/play to their special someone to let them know how they feel with songs like "One Man" (which help us men explain that our love means more then anything we can buy) or "Close" (which helps guys give women a detailed look at what men thinks about the first time they have sex). One Man from top to bottom is a musical treasure and should be taken seriously.
