3.0 out of 5 stars From Casablanca to the Eagle's Nest, April 24, 2010
This review is from: One of Many: A True Story of a Soldier (Paperback)
A simply written first person WW II love-story between a decorated and wounded Army ground-pounder's survival from the first (invasion of N. Africa against Rommel), to the invasions of Sicily and Italy, to Normandy, to the Battle of the Bulge, and at the last to Hitler's Eagle's Nest retreat; and of a decorated Army front line nurse who helped save the lives of wounded GIs in Sicily, Italy, and France. She lost friends to Nazi bombings of her Evac Hospitals and hitched a ride w/ Gen'l Patton. With the help of a lot of friends and happenstance, Ralph and Erna discovered each other in Sicily and were married in Nice, France. This WW II story is unusual not only for its historical breadth and romantic intimacy, but also, for its recognition of BOTH the men and women warriors of WW II.
