From the Inside Flap

Just a note to let you know how much I enjoy my e-mails from Gooseberry Patch! I made your "Cute as a Button" cookies and even decorated some jars with old buttons...they look great! I'm giving several for Christmas gifts. Thanks for such nice gifts and ideas!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love Gooseberry Patch, January 1, 2008

This review is from: One Pot Meals Cookbook (Everyday Cookbook Collection) (Hardcover)
First, let me say that I am a HUGE Gooseberry Patch fan. Currently I own six of their books: Slow Cooker Recipes, Best-Ever Casseroles, What's for Dinner?, Come on Over, One-Pot Meals and From Grandma's Kitchen. I just LOVE the books. The recipes are very easy, not too fancy, don't take long and always taste good. They are easy to read and the spiral binding keeps the books open flat. I think out of all of the books, I have only made one thing that I didn't care for. They are just great, great books to have around and I love the little tips on each page, the way that every book is broken up by meats and categories and just all of the other little helpful charts and equivalents that are in each book. In my opinion, they are just great additions to any cookbook collection and I love having them in my kitchen.

I have only made one thing out of this book so far (Yummy Peach Dessert) but it came out really well. I am looking forward to making other things as well. However, what I really like about this book is how they have it divided into cooking styles rather than meat...they have a section for pot/skillet/pressure cooking meals, oven meals, slow-cooker meals, microwave meals, grilled, dinner salads and a final dessert section. It's a really neat book and I am looking forward to working my way through it.

I would recommend it. I just can't give it five stars based on one recipe!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE it so much that I am buying it as Christmas Gifts, November 19, 2010

This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Gooseberry Patch books (and I own a lot of them). I am purchasing it for my mother --who loves to camp and cook outdoors-- this year due to all the great campfire, skillet and "packet" recipes. Love that it has a nice section on slow cookers too. All and all it is a well rounded book for someone who like quick, easy and delicious meals.

I have tried 4 or 5 of the one pot meals in this cookbook from Gooseberry Patch, and so far all of them have been successful but none have really stood out as a family favorite yet. Nevertheless I like the book. I expected more slow cooker recipes but on the other hand, most of the recipes I've tried from the book were not for the slow cooker either.
