5.0 out of 5 stars Want to know what happens when you die??, June 2, 2006
This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a fantastic book. Lutzer has taken verses directly from the Bible and has simply written about God's place for us once we die. Those who have accepted in Jesus as their Savior will immediately go to be with the Savior for eternity! This book is great for anyone, and especially those who are not sure of their destiny, those who are dying, amd those who have lost a loved one. I urge everyone to purchase this great book! Lutzer's books in general are wonderful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing and encouraging, February 19, 2006
This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
When I picked this book up, I couldn't put it down, the same was true of my wife. We both got encouraged and refreshed from reading this book. It also answered several questions we had. My wife and I look forward to our arrival in heaven, and we thank God that we missed hell. We've accepted the truth of Jesus Christ so we belong to him and we will enjoy Him for eternity in heaven. Eternal life is not a place, it is the gift of God in Christ Jesus that we enjoy now, and heaven is the place we will go once we pass through the curtain of death. Vicki and l look forward to having Jesus meet us in heaven when the curtain opens for us. We are so encouraged! David Mikolajczyk

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Explains, February 13, 2007

This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
This book while a little frightening, I liked. It is true, we plan our free time with more thought than where we will be for eternity. Most of mankind has the "I will worry about that another day" mentality, myself included for sure.True none of us will turn into saints overnight, but thank God he is not asking us to do that...really it is so simple, accept Christ as your personal Savior and trust him. Of course that does not mean we can go out and do as we please with the"Christ has saved Me" thought either. It means that we should think before we act, show kindness and mercy, forgive others etc..I am sure there are some wonderful people who will die with no sin on their souls and they are truly blessed, but for the rest of us I think what Erwin Lutzer wrote is be the best you can be here, do things to please God, you may not die sin free, but because Christ has paid for our sins we will behold the face of God through his mercy and grace. What I also read gave me a little more comfort. I had read both "23 minutes in Hell" and "A Divine Revelation of Hell" and in both those books the people who had these experiences both stated that "demons were tormenting the people in Hell". According to this author, they "do not torment" rather "they are tormented". You might say why does that matter. It matters to me because those books (however much the authors truly believe they were there)portrays God and Jesus as malicious , or at least it seemed that way. Both people who found themselves in Hell stated that they were so upset and had so much compassion for the people doomed to Hell, yet Jesus has kind of a "Oh Well" attitude...not the Jesus I believe in, sorry it is hard for me to believe that my GOD is a vicious, vengeful entity who enjoys nothing more than tormenting people. We need to pray, God does listen to prayers and God can change whatever he wants. He will ultimately do it his way (let's be real, we should give him advice on how to run the universe? look what a mess we made on this tiny little planet). I would be a little frightened if God needed us to help him out here, but if we pray for change God will help us. Excellent Book, almost makes me want to pack my bags.

4.0 out of 5 stars one minute after you die, January 3, 2007
This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
If you are a Christian and a believer, you will know there is hope and a wonderful place to go when you die. It gives you hope of the life after death and also makes you decide where you want to end up and there is a hell. I would perfer to be with Christ.

What a great read! Hard to put down. Powerful and insightful writing that is well worth the short amount of time it takes to read. Just like the last spoonful of pudding, you suddenly realize you want more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Witnessing Tool, August 21, 2007

I had read this book some time ago, and recently picked it up for a second read through. I think this book is one of the most excellent treatise on the subject of what happens after death and the dying process! At 144 pages and a title that evokes emotion it won't be easily cast aside by someone seeking answers to this most disconcerting of questions.

I have given out a couple of these a few years ago and was in search for a good witnessing tool. I have come back to this book, as I feel it does an excellent job presenting both sides - Heaven and Hell - and also has a chapter that may help a person choose Christ as Lord and Saviour.

There are a couple of minor concerns I have, but they can be overcome in light of the blessing this book is overall:

The first is that the author seems to put forth some ideas that are clearly not Biblical and initially seems to support them only to refute them a few paragraphs later. This method of writing was a little confusing for me and worried me about how an unsaved reader may interpret his thoughts. He did end up taking the Biblical position in the end, but it could be confusing.

The only other concern I had is that, as a witnessing tool, which I always felt was the author's intention for this book, I can't understand why he didn't put the chapters on Hell and salvation much closer to the beginning of the book? If a non-believer picks this book up, I am concerned that they may get the idea everyone is going to Heaven no matter what they believe, and may not get to the most important parts before they put it down. If you are using this as a witnessing tool, it is my suggestion that you tell the reader to start at Chapter Six(6) and continue to the end, then go back to the beginning and finish the rest of the chapters.

Overall, this is an outstanding book and an awesome witnessing tool. I hope to buy a box full to give away in the near future!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is an eye opener and a must share, July 31, 2011

This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
I buy this book in quantity to give it to others who will benefit from the truth. It will also inspire others to think....if they're willing to give the subject some consideration. It basically starts with. So you've just died, what do you expect to see beyond the curtain? It's a fast read, it's incredibly interesting and thought provoking... if your an introspective person. If this book doesn't get you to wonder about life and death and heaven and hell, nothing will!

5.0 out of 5 stars definitely GREAT, September 3, 2009
This review is from: One Minute After You Die: A Preview of Your Final Destination (Mass Market Paperback)
Amazingly easy book to read that will answer every question you have about death and dying. Biblically based, this book anticipates our fears and concerns for our loved ones and ourselves and presents a clear pictures of exactly what happens during the dying process and ultimately death.
The first time I read this book, it made a strong impact on me as I scanned it out of curiosity. Then I ordered several more to give to friends and family. Since then, I have shared this book with many people; it references the Bible as it speaks and it tells the truth.
