5.0 out of 5 stars OCS does it again!, October 6, 1999
By A Customer
The Scene's sound continues to evolve. This album is definitely more singer Simon Fowler's album than the past two. Much simpler folk oriented songs get down to the emotion and lyrics. Steve Cradock's guitar focuses more on atmosphere and there is a decided lack of solos (though his fills are perfect as always). His piano and organ take an increased role in many songs. Overall, this is OCS's strongest, most consistent writing to date. Fans looking for another Riverboat Song or Hundred Mile High City may be disappointed, but fans of their more subtle material such as their b-sides will be blown away. It's a real shame it's only available as an import in the States.

Well, howw many times , Ocs from what seems nowhere pluck out one of the best albums of this year . The only reason this hasn't sold like hot cakes is because they know who there real fans are , and they know they'll buy it , and it's been worth the wait if only to hear " I am the news " or " the waves " thankyou OCS for bringing true music back on the shelves,

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't follow rules... Make your own!, April 12, 2000
This review is from: One from the Modern (Audio CD)
The album is balanced, inspired and thought provoking. The waves (Penultimate track)is possibly the best song EVER, by any artist, living or dead, of this earth or otherwise. Buy today, enjoy for all eternity.
