and so do my kids. the rhymes are fun and there's even a brief introduction to counting that had my youngest counting to ten ahead of her time.

My son is 3 and he loves it! We needed more books geared towards his age. I choose this book because we were given another from the same author that he loves "Have you seen my Potty". This book is great. When they are all in bed and they hear the "rat-a-tat" at the door, my son knocks on the floor to make the sound. When they slam the door in the on the worlf my son says "Bonk". The illustrations are great. The rhyming is great because he's actually working on rhyming words at preschool. It's just a fun book for us to read each night! I highly recommend it!

Fun, fun book. My 3 year old boy and 5 & 6 year old girls all loved the book. Mom loved the book too. As usual, Russell Ayto's illustrations are outstanding! Buy a copy. You won't regret it.

Counting Sheep has Never Been So Important,

Sam has ten sheep, and every night he tries to count them before he goes to bed to make sure he has them all. The problem is that counting them immediately puts him to sleep. One night there is a knock at the door, and it's a sheep he accidentally left outside. Or is it? How can the sheep make sure Sam counts them all to make sure? This is a simple and very original picture book that is lots of fun. The story is fairly straight forward. The fact that the sheep and Sam talk to each other is one of the best things in the book because it is pretty funny. The illustrations are definitely stylized but add to the fun. If you are paying attention, you'll know who is at the door from the very beginning. And yet the book does have a problem. It told in rhyme, and a few of the lines don't quite work. A couple times the meter is off, and a couple of the words don't really rhyme with each other. Granted, I wouldn't have even tried to tell it in rhyme, but it's a bit distracting when it happens. That aside, this is still a fun story that adults and kids will enjoy together. |
