An Eagle at His Best,
By
This review is from: One More Song (Audio CD)
Randy Meisner shines on this album. Indeed, this album may be the best of ANY Eagles solo album. Great vocals and melodies throughout. Some of the best songs that Randy's ever done. And, by far the best of his 3 solo albums. This album is as enjoyable today as it was when it was released. Its hits--"Deep Inside My Heart" and "Hearts on Fire"--remain great listens today. Many of the others tracks are memorable--"Gotta Get Away" and "One More Song" (featuring some familiar Eagles voices) in particular. There's nothing on this album with quite the same feel as "Take It to the Limit," but just about every track is as strong. For those who like the Eagles/Poco sound, this is a "must have" album. Twenty years after its release it still soars.

Overlooked Gem,
By
This review is from: One More Song (Audio CD)
This is one of those albums that doesn't have a bad cut on it and just gets better every time you play it. Meisner's soulful voice and heart felt lyrics reach down and grab you where you live. The tone of the album is bittersweet with the flavor of loves lost and lives in the limbo of an uncertain future with just enough hope to go on, or not enough choice not to. The feel is similar to Willie Nelson's classic "Red-Headed Stranger". Randy kind of got lost in the crowd with his solo efforts after he and the Eagles parted ways but this album rises above his other offerings. The music shows a cross section of styles never displayed during his Eagles period, especially the jazz influence shown in tracks like "Trouble Ahead" and "Anyway Bye Bye" that are reminiscent of certain New Riders of the Purple Sage tunes from their "Adventures of Panama Red" album. This work would definitely have made the jukebox at Barney's Beanery. Country-Rock-Jazz has never been defined as a commercial genre though it can be found in the album cuts of numerous classic bands. The lyrics are real and the music has enough hooks to keep you interested and the songs in your head long after the disc is done. "Hearts On Fire" and "Deep Inside My Heart" have a more familiar rock sound while the title cut ballad, "One More Song" should be on anyone's list of classic anthems. This one deserves to be in your collection. If you even think you might like it, get it, you won't be sorry.

The BEST,
By A Customer

This is one of my absolute favorite cd's.There is not one bad song on this album. I have looked everywhere for it. The first time I found it was in Hawaii in 1981 and I have never found it since.
