Transitional YJ Recording...,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: One Music (Audio CD)
This was a pivotal recording for both Mintzer (Producer) and the Yellowjackets...
I kind of think of it as a test-drive recording for the band, post-Marc Russo (Saxophonist - former band member). You'll recognize some of the riffs, chord structures and beats from some of the YJ albums immediately following during that '90's era. "One People" and "City of Hope" bear that signature Gospel/R&B flavor for which this version of the Yellowjackets has enjoyed such great popularity. Ya gotta add it to your YJ collection - it's that simple.

"The great lost Yellow Jackets album",

This hard to find gem features Bob and the Yellow Jackets playing mostly Mintzer composition, but in essence it's a complete Yellow Jackets album. The band even features it as an "official" release on their discography (at their website). It is a very, very good album, sounding somewhere between the YJ's Greenhouse and Like a River CDs. Outstanding tracks: One People (Bob on EWI), City Of Hope, Rich and Poor (great bass solo by Jimmy Haslip).
Expensive, rare but highly recommended, a great complement to the Yellow Jackets collection.
