SLUNT! ROCKS!!
Do yourself a favor, my friend. Buy this CD. I don't do reviews. I've only done one other in my life I think. But I really felt the need to do one for this CD.
I had never heard of Slunt before a couple nights ago. I went to see Paul Stanley play a show here in San Francisco. Heard that this band would be opening up. I just wanted to see Paul. Well, that changed as soon as Slunt hit the stage. It was loud. And Raw. My 4 friends and I stood there looking at each other, just smiling and nodding our heads.
They `Tore it up'. We went from wanting Paul to hit the stage to not wanting the opening band's set to end.
Charles Ruggiero (drums) Is a really clean drummer who plays with a lot of aggression, and fury. Jhen Kobran (Bass) `ruler of all things bass'.Great musician and fun to watch. An absolute cool rocker chick! Plays her A** off. Abby Gennet (guitar, vocals) Looks wonderful on stage. Also plays her A** off. Great singer. Really knows how to work a crowd. Oh yeah, and is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. And Pat Harrington(lead guitar) What a Bad A**! Such a cool dude. Great guitarist. Looks like a tough guy, but I had the opportunity to meet the band after they played, and he was exceptionally friendly, and went out of his way to talk to me. They were all friendly.

So yeah. Get this CD. It is great. Every song is amazing. Described as `post-punk b*tch metal', but it's much more. The first two days I had it I listened to the entire CD probably ten times.

I said `Get it!'

5.0 out of 5 stars Big turnaround. This one's great., January 31, 2008
This review is from: One Night Stand (Audio CD)
Their first album sucks, and I still think it sucks. This one's great, it's a weird phenomenon. I despise absolutely every song on the first album, but I love EVERY song on this album. Got more of a classic rock sound if you're into that stuff. It's reminiscent of KISS, AC/DC, & Alice Cooper, while the first album sounds like Britney Sprears. I recommend this album, but stay away from the first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Hard Rock Album!!!!, December 26, 2006
This review is from: One Night Stand (Audio CD)
One Night Stand is the best pure hard rock cd that I have had the pleasure of listening to since the classic Back in Black. It has the same energy from start to finish and is just one of those albums that you listen to all the way through. The music will remind you of some classic 80s metal while the vocals sung by the lovely Abby Gennet will captivate you. The guitar riffs are catchy and drums and bass are heart pounding. This is a great cd by band that has an unlimited future and should be at least checked out by anyone that claims to enjoy just good old fun rock and roll!!!! Rawk On!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Give You Love, December 22, 2006
By
Patrick Stott (Rolleston, Canterbury, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Night Stand (Audio CD)
Slunt: filthy name, sleazy music, dirty attitude. In other words, a winning combination. At a time when bands either deliberately play up their don't-give-a-damn attitude or tone down their antics for wider commercial appeal, it's refreshing to see a band genuinely being themselves. Slunt is a white trash band from the wrong side of the tracks in New York City, and they make no apologies for it.

Forget schoolboy double entendres a là AC/DC. Singer Abby Gennet has the vocabulary of a drunken sailor and the attitude of a thousand pre-menstrual harpies, and her voice has a trashy, potent sexuality to it. She has the voice which could launch a thousand obsessions. There are no subtle Riot Grrl feminist undertones here. These songs are the equivalent of a girls' night out in a too small mini skirt, drinking till you puke, kissing a biker in a dirty alleyway, and then getting up on stage to sing about it.

Sure, the initial attraction to the band for many a horny teen might be the fact that there's two chicks in the band, who aren't afraid of using their feminine, uh, charms to attract attention, but if you can get past the T and A (Pay attention! Eyes up here!) you'll notice this band can really rock. Imagine if Mötley Crüe could actually write decent songs, or if Wolfsbane had been fronted by a woman. Guitarist Pat Harrington has that easy, effortless swagger only the most confident guitarists, like Joe Perry and Malcolm Young, ever achieve.

One of the highlights of the album is the boogie feel of "Absinthe In Munich". It is the sort of song which would set dance floors alight the world over. Elsewhere, "Dirty Blonde" is a Bluesy aural strip-show. "Here To Rock" is a new take on the "Let There Be Rock/I Wanna Rock" style of song.

Some bands have it and others simply don't. Slunt are haves rather than have-nots. You won't find a better female fronted Hard Rock album than `One Night Stand' for many a day.
