More About the Author

I live in New England now but I was born in New York City and lived in or near the city most of my life. It's where I met my husband--I was fifteen and a senior in high school! He was at both my high school and college graduations. We have a lot of shared, wonderful history.

After we married, I taught elementary school for a while. Then I settled into being a wife and mother but the desire to write was always there. I'd written short stories when I was little--the first, which I illustrated myself, I wrote when I was seven! I never really stopped writing and one day I looked in the mirror and said, "Okay, Sandra, you've always wanted to be a published writer. Maybe it's time you did something about it."

I'd always been interested in the complex ways in which men and women relate to each so it seemed natural to start writing romance fiction. I wrote short stories and sold several of them. Finally, I took a deep breath, sat down and wrote my very first novel. To my amazement and joy, Harlequin Presents bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this one, August 28, 2006
This review is from: The One -Night Wife: The O'Connells (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a great addition to the O'Connell's and Sean doesn't disappoint. Savannah was taken off the streets of New Orleans as a teenager along with her autistic sister by a man named Beaumont who then taught her to be a professional gambler and dressed her up to make men focus on her not gambling. When Beaumont loses some money to Sean, he gets Savannah to scam him and embarress him to get even but the tables turn when Sean wins the game and gets Savannah as a prize. He thinks she's Beaumont's mistress but she's really a virgin. Beaumont uses her sisters care in a nice facility to blackmail her into doing what he wants. To make the story short, Sean develops feelings for Savannah and asks her to pose as his wife to please his mom then really marries her. Savannah falls for Sean but is still being blackmailed by Beaumont.

The only problem with this book is why Savannah wasn't honest with Sean from the beginning. He gives her so many opportunities to tell him what's going on with her sister and Beaumont that it doesn't make since why she doesn't tell. Still the chemistry is great and its never boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful adding to the series!, July 20, 2006
By
This review is from: The One -Night Wife: The O'Connells (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
The One-Night Wife is the fifth book on The O'Conells series. I was expecting this book because in the past ones Sean seemed like the forever bachelor, and I was wondering who would finally get his heart.
The wait was worth it, beautiful Savannah won his heart. She made him think of marriage, settling down, and giving up gambling. However, it was not an easy ride. Savannah had a painful past and present. Her protector is a devious man who kept blackmailing her with her sister's wellfare.
Sean was a victim, and the something that came near the end was almost to jaw dropping to read it. I loved it! The suspense was great, the love scenes were fabuluous, and the qarrels, Oh my God.
I truly recommend it!

Sean's story set in the casino world only added to the storyline as the O'Connell's come from a casino background. Sean, handsome, strong and powerful was also sensitive and extremely passionate and wanted to win the lovely Savannah. Savannah's story moved me to tears and was full of action and suspense. Another wonderful Sandra Marton book and a real keeper!
