This is really just a silicone based (dimethicone) product, similar to "Frizz-ease" and others. This is why its "LOVE/HATE" for me

I LOVE: :)
-the price..i got mine for like 3 dollars plus shipping..you cant beat that with a stick!
-the consistency-its not to thick not to runny perfect for sealing after moisturizing
-that it makes my hair really soft and manageable!

I HATE: :(
-that the first ingredient is "Dimethicone" which is a plastic that coats the hair and preventS moisture from getting in and also causes buildup and potentially breakage
-that the LAST ingredient is the actual argan oil-meaning thats what it has the least of?

Overall,
I may use the rest of this product but my next purchase will probably be the real or 100% Argan Oil

1.0 out of 5 stars MISLEADING!, April 11, 2010
This review is from: One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment 3.4 oz. (Misc.)
This is really just a silicone based (dimethicone) product, similar to "Frizz-ease" and others. Don't get me wrong, I like silicone products, but naming this product "Argan Oil Treatment" is deceptive. Argan oil comes AFTER fragrance on the ingredient list. How much fragrance does it take to scent a 3.4oz bottle? A drop or two? Or even less? And since ingredients are listed in order of how much is in there, that means there's hardly any actual Argan oil in this product. And by the time you dispense a single application in your hand you probably have a minuscule amount of Argan oil in that application. Certainly not enough to do anything for your hair. Shame on you One 'N Only for your misleading label!

As far as how good this product is, it's not really any different than any of the other silicone products I've used. My favorite silicone product (mainly because I like it's scent) is Biosilk Silk Therapy Serum, Packaging May Vary, 5.64 Ounces and it's a lot less expensive. Other brands are even cheaper. Ten dollars for a 3.4 oz bottle of this "Argan oil" is really expensive by comparison.

I bought my product from Sally's and I'm taking it back for a refund.

If you want to really see what argan oil will do for your hair, I would recommend buying a product that contains 100% Pure Argan oil. It will be more expensive, but at least you're getting what you pay for.

Update: I've tried 100% pure Argan oil and I honestly don't see what the hype is all about. It doesn't do anything for my hair. It was an expensive failure. I love what silicone products do and it seems that when people rave about Argan oil, it's most likely the "fillers" (silicone) that they like. I don't think there's anything special about Argan oil over any other oil (for effects on the hair).

5.0 out of 5 stars Almost the Same Ingredients as Moroccan Oil at One Third the Price, May 2, 2010
By
This review is from: One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment 3.4 oz. (Misc.)
During the present economic recession I have been looking for ways to stretch a buck. I was running out of Moroccan Oil and needed to find a cheaper replacement when I ran across a trial size version of "One and Only" Argan Oil at Sally Beauty Supply. I usually never like the cheaper version of anything better than the original, but this is definitely the one exception to that rule. I actually like this stuff BETTER than Moroccan Oil and that stuff costs 3 times what this does!

I don't know what all the complaints are about with the silicone - Moroccan oil has dimethicone on its ingredient list too, although it's not first on the list as it is in this product (OK, it's second on the list). Am I going to split hairs over that? LOL (pun intended). Otherwise the ingredient list is almost identical to Moroccan Oil (and yes, contrary to what some others have said, this does have Argan Oil in it, six ingredients down the list, just the same as Moroccan Oil).

The one major ingredient this does not have that Moroccan Oil has is linseed oil, but so what? I am actually happier without it. And really all I care about are results. My hair is much smoother and easier to manage with this stuff than with Moroccan Oil! And the more I use it the better the condition of my hair and less frizz too! I can hardly believe it! I can't justify the much higher cost of Moroccan Oil just because it is the brand that salons recommend and websites claim is very healthy for the hair, dimethicone and all. I am much happier with this product anyway and you can't argue with the much cheaper price. I don't think I need to hold out for pure argan oil, either. If the professionals like Moroccan Oil and this stuff is basically similar to that minus the linseed oil and with a slightly different order of dimethicone versus cyclopentasiloxane (dimethicone is first on the ingredient list in One and Only and second under cyclopentasiloxane in Moroccan Oil) I don't see why this wouldn't be a suitable substitute. I'm just happy I found it!

1.0 out of 5 stars A flat-out SCAM!!!, April 24, 2011
This review is from: One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment 3.4 oz. (Misc.)
This product is one of the most egregious rip-offs I've ever seen!!

The writing on the ingredient label is microscopic, but if you get a magnifier, you can see that it's nothing but dimethicone type silicone. NOT ARGAN OIL! Silicones make your hair and skin smooth in the short-run, but in the long-run they just coat and create a moisture barrier. Calling this product "Argan Oil Treatment" is a SCAM. As another rater said, Argan oil comes AFTER fragrance on the ingredient list. There's barely any expensive Argan oil in this product.

If you want silicones (and dimethicone is the worst for coating hair), you can buy a big bottle of it for the price of this small bottle.

Look for a product that is 100% Pure Argan oil. If it's too expensive, Grapeseed Oil, Sunflower Oil, Jojoba Oil, coconut oil, and various others can be used for hair and skin to actually make them better instead of creating a chemical coating. Visit the "long hair communities" type forums online and find out about what silicones really do, and about how you can improve the condition of your hair in the long-run.

We tend to think think that labeling laws protect us from scammers. Obviously, that isn't the case.

This product is theft of the consumers money.

1.0 out of 5 stars DECEPTIVE!!, March 8, 2011
This review is from: One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment 3.4 oz. (Misc.)
This stuff contains hardly any Argan oil in it at all! It's at the end of the ingredient list!!!! If you are getting good results from this product, just know it is from the silicone (eg. dimethicone) ingredients. I have curly/frizzy hair and love the silicone products on my hair. I use them all the time.

This is just an OVERPRICED silicone product. They put a trace of Argan oil in it so they can call it "Argan Oil" treatment. Misleading and deceptive!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised, November 10, 2009

I got a free .25 oz sample of this product. Wow. I must say, I had zero expectation b/c I've tried so many hair products w/ no success. But I thought, what the heck, I'll try it. My hair is a combination of curly & frizzy, medium length- perfect recipe for frizz! I only used about 1/5 of it & that was plenty. I applied it to my wet hair & styled as usual (finished w/ my favorite hair spray). I'm a wash-n-go girl-I just pull my hair back & go. How does my hair look? My curls are way more relaxed/loose, shine is unbelievable and no frizz. Pleasantly surprised. I have yet to research the ingredients in this Oil Treatment-whatever they are, they work for me!

1.0 out of 5 stars One N Only Argan Oil--Not what it seems, August 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this oil after reading several reviews and also watching several youtube reviews about it. However what I did not check were the ingredients before I purchased it. This product is mostly silicone based and has very little of the actual Argan Oil. The product smells great but that's about it. The silicone components do add a temporary shine to hair but over time build up creating residue, blocking follicles and impeding hair growth--exactly the opposite effect of what you are looking for when using argain oil. When purchasing argain oil, or any oil, make sure it is COLD PRESSED, 100% PURE AND ORGANIC. Check the ingredients list before purchasing. Some products are misleading and say they are pure but usually they have a bunch of chemicals mixed in. The best and truly pure oils will have only that oil listed in their ingredients (some may be mixed with other oils which is ok if that's what you're looking for) but make sure there are no added colors, silicone, chemicals, etc.

For best results from using argan oil (first start with pure oil!!)--apply a small amount to your finger tips and massage into scalp. You can also apply it to your hair about 30mins-1 hour before taking a shower and then shampoo your hair and wash it out. After shampooing, when your hair is towel dried and damp, apply a small pea to dime sized amount all throughout your hair. This will serve as an anti frizz serum and also make your hair shiny. Let your hair air dry to about 65% before blow drying and styling. After you are done styling your hair, take a very small amount and seal your ends. This will prevent frizz throughout the day, prevent split ends from forming over time, and will keep your hair from looking dry and unhealthy.

Just a side note: I did not purchase this product from Amazon.com but from another distributor. I am currently using the Slice of Nature Virgin Argan Oil 100% Pure and Organic which I did purchase from Amazon.com

I should have done my research and read the "ingredients", where argan is listed at the bottom

This product is basically a drug-store frizz ease labelled as Argan Oil. Yes it's cheap, but Frizz Ease is cheaper.

Even the tiniest amount made my hair greasy. I'll pay more and buy the real argan oil next time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy for hair, March 16, 2011
This review is from: One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment 3.4 oz. (Misc.)
This One 'n Only Argan Oil Treatment, which is not a 100% argan formula, has come in handy and I notice results on my hair. It is good for providing softness, shortening drying time and it smells really, really nice (softly sweet fragrance)! I also used it mixed with my semi-permanent color treatment (gray cover) and it has definitely contributed to that treatment taking better and lasting longer than it has before for me. It also is reasonably priced. I will definitely use it with my color treatments from now on. I even gave some to a friend for use in her hair after conditioning because it does really cut down on drying time. It's a very handy product to have in your bathroom.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT HAIR PRODUCT AND ONE THAT I AM GOING TO CONTINUE TO USE. TRY IT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND SEE THE DIFFERENCE. ANOTHER POINT IS I ALSO HAVE USED THIS OIL ON MY BODY AND IT MAKES SKIN LOOK MOIST AND FULL OF LIFE. SMELLS DELIGHTFUL WITH IT'S VERY LIGHT AIRY MORROCCAN MUSK SCENT. VERY MELLOW SCENT, VERY PLEASANT. THIS IS A MUST USE IF YOU HAVE GIVEN UP ON YOUR HAIR. THE PRICE IS LOW AND AFFORDABLE.LOOK FOR "ONE AND ONLY' FOR THE REAL DEAL IN ARGAN OIL. TOP QUALITY.
