It's Led Zeppelin hard rock combined with Pink Floyd experimentation with a modern rock twist and not much of the edge that was displayed in bands such as Jane's Addiction.

While people are surprised and let down by the fact it does not sound like Jane's Addcition, the thing for me is I had to look at this album as an able of The Panic Channel, not an album that just features three former members of Jane's Addiction.

While there is some depth and diversity, the instrumental work (espeically from Navarro - one of the greatest innovators of guitar and Perkins - the best drummer since John Bonham) for the most part are on the generic side. Chaney is an able bassist, which he proves on this album; and Steve Issacs on the other hand
crafts interesting lyrics; however, Issacs is probably the most grounded (and vocally trained) of all the vocalists Navarro and Perkins worked with.

It's not bad, actually turned out better than I thought it would turn out.

I love this album. I feel obligated to stand up for it since, I confess, I have long viewed Navarro as an overrated guitarist who happened to be in two great bands (Jane's Addiction and the Chili Peppers). I always figured he was coattailing other creative giants. But I was wrong. When a guy goes 3 for 3 and comes up with another great album in yet another band, you have to acknowledge that he's got the goods. This is a terrific musical outing that you should own.

When I first purcahsed this, I had no idea who was in the band...didn't care...I just heard a track, and purchased it. At first listen, it sounded like an 'interesting' cut...after a second, I found myself listening to it over and over.

I understand many of the 'concerns' listed...but this CD rocks, get over it!

I enjoyed this album thoroughly. It has that full and strong sound that, to me, makes for great rock n' roll. Bloody Mary and Teahouse Of The Spirits are standouts - the rest is also very good. This album is definitely a cut above a rather drab rock scene these days.

While not Janes Addiction and although I love Perry's singing style the most, this is a great album and you definitely hear Dave and Stephen clearly in it, Chris is an amazing player, I wasn't familiar with the lead singer before this album but he fits them very well, I think if you like J.A , P.F.P ... you'll enjoy this one!

On first listen over half of the album is good. After your 2nd or 3rd listen through, almost every song is great! The stand out tracks are definitely Teahouse of the Spirits, Left to Lose, Said You'd Be, Bloody Mary, Awake, Outsider and Night One. The others are good too...just not as emotion packed and hard hitting as these are. Dave Navarro plays in his classic alternative style constantly making me to rewind his solos to hear again, Perkins and Chaney shine as a solid rhythm section, especially on Teahouse and Awake. (the break down at the end of this song is awesome) Lastly, Steve Isaacs has an amazing vocal range and a beautiful tone to his voice. It's so refreshing in todays muddled aray of lackluster vocalists, to hear someone with solid talent. Overall, I love this album. It has taken up permanent residency in my cd player.

This whole album is great. It harkens back to the grunge era, and you will recognize influences from all the major bands of that time. In that respect it is almost nostalgic. I highly recommend the CD, and especially because of the rage that is felt in the protest song called AWAKE, which is # 5 on the album. OUTSIDER is another great tune on the album.

Having never been a Jane's Addiction fan, I was not trying to compare this record to the members previous work. I try to listen to a new album with an open mind, and I think this is a great album. The song writing is good, and the melodies are great. I think Steve Isaacs has a great hard rock voice. I would have to say that this is one of my favorite albums this year.
I would compare the sound of this album to the sound of the band Oleander. Another band with great songwriting.

I saw this band perform on Conan and thought they sounded pretty cool. I purchased the CD and loved it. I came to Amazon and was surprised that so many felt this was below par. So in the interest of giving credit to good music and songs I am recommending this one. What I liked was that they didnt have that "Nickelback" sound that you see in every band now. (Not that I dont like Nickelback) In a way it brings me back to the 80's approach of writing. Alot of melody and good guitar sounds.

I have to say that I had been kinda scared about the direction of Daves life after such a seemingly mismatched pairing between him and the baywatch gal, and Daves hosting of Rock Star. Janes Addictions groove was always much deeper than that and I was hoping not to see Mr Navarro get lost in Hollywood and all its crap. Bottom line, he showed me up and I am happy for it. The album is great, the music is nothing less than you would expect from him and the rest of the boys, and the new singer is good as well. You will find depth for your head on this album.
