Great Sophomore Release from the PC3.,

Australian Christian rockers, the Paul Colman Trio made a big splash in 2002 with their international debut "A New Map Of The World". Now, Paul and friends are back with their second album entitled "One"."One" displays an edgier sound than its predecessor and also shows the band maturing as a tight musical unit. Paul Colman's songwriting is definitely in full bloom here complete with catchy hooks and openly honest lyrics. The opening track "I'll Be With You" is a upbeat number with lyrics of comfort and hope. Other standout tracks include the thumping rocker "Solution", the Dave Matthews-like "Birthday Song", the experimental "Who Do You Say?", "Live It!" which has a touch of Steven Curtis Chapman's style thrown in and the John Mayer-esque title track. The Paul Colman Trio has shown considerable growth musically and lyrically since the release of their debut. "One" definitely shows the band coming into their own. Chances are the album after this one will be an improvement as well. Check "One" out. You won't be disappointed.

Not As Good As the First CD, but still worth a listen.,

Anyone who has ever heard a PC3 song knows that this group is dedicated to making music that glorifies the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. While the group has split up, this CD should still be part of a Christian music fan's collection. I don't believe this CD is as good as the groups first release, but it is definitely good!
#1. I'll Be With You - A song about God's promise to stay with us through it all. It is a pretty catchy tune with a slightly mellow beat. Paul Colman has a unique and soft voice which makes it interesting to listen to this first entry on the CD. If you like Steven Curtis Chapman's music, you'll like this song. #2. Pray - One of the weakest songs on the CD. A lot of doodoodoos, but not much in the way of grabbing the listener's attention. I think PC3's foirst album was so full of stand-out and spectacular songs that I may be expecting a little too much from this follow up. #3. Solution - Now were talking! This song has a powerful message - we are forgetting that we are supposed to be following the Ruler of this universe? And can we get back on track? This song changes around quite a bit and is not very predictable. It is this kind of unique approach that made their first CD so successful. #4. The Birthday Song - Another song that doesn't quite have that "MMMMPPPHHHFFF" PC3 songs usually have. This song seems forced and just not very well put together. #5. Your Man - A good slow song...reminds me of a few Michael W. Smith songs. Paul Colman did a good job on the lyrics for this one. It is a song about wanting to be what God wants us to be - being His man. #6. Big Blue Planet - A little faster, a little harder, this song jumps right in and changes up the pace quite a bit. It addresses the way we feel when we first discover the Creator of all that is. #7. ONE - Hmmmm...this song just doesn't cut it for me. It is boring, and I just don't know how a great group like PC3 managed to create a boring song about their faith. I wouldn't have put this song on the CD. #8. Who Do You Say? - A call for us to find truth and spread that truth. Has kind of a catchy and increasingly stronger drum beat. Definitely better than the last track. #9. Live It! - A song about worship and living your faith, as you might guess from the title. This song has some cool lyrics and change-ups, even a few Paul Colman "yeah!" shout outs. #10. One Generation - Good vocal entry with a low music background that discusses change and our willingness to be the one generation that causes that change - of course with the blessings of the Lord. #11. Save My Soul - The title says it all. This song is pretty good. Paul shows off his range, and I think I caught a little bit more of his Australian accent on this one. #12. Into Your Arms - I better not comment on this one. Let's just say it was a weak ending for the CD.
