Terrible book,
By Been there "Been there" (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
This book is absolutely ridiculous. In between the 30 year old pictures, it pretends to offer information about the world of one percenter motorcyclists. If the guy on the cover ever has the misfortune of meeting some real 1%er club members, he will wonder what possessed him to get a one percent design tattooed on his wannabe hide. The book is silly and was written by somebody who's never been a 1%er himself. Don't bother.

Not worth the money,
By Pathfinder (IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
This book really doesn't give you any insight into the world of 1%er's. I think that at least 75% of the information I have read in other books, another 20% has nothing at all to do with bikers and I'll be nice and say that 5% of the information has to do with the biker lifestyle.
The name of the book is really misleading. I was truly disappointed.

Attempt at history,
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
Unfortunetly I have to agree with 99% of the few comments. This book was terrbile, I believe maybee a 12 yr old may have done a school project.
This writer spent over three qaurters of the book attempting to give a history lesson on the huns, mongols, Attila the wild west, 20 pages on bike makers and the early history of h/d and indian. Finally in the last 15-20 pages he talks about a few of the 1% ers. Why no information on the Mongols, Henchman and the other groups. everyone knows they Hells ANgels try to legitimize themselves with childrens bike runs and charities, so does law enforcement, firman, civil service workers. I could not even give the book away, well there is always recycling. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Wait until you find it a used book store if you absolutely must read.

Lynch Report 2007,
By 8-Ball "8-Ball" (Denver, CO) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
This book is horrible so please don't waste one penny one it. The author goes on for page after page complaining about how the popular media has "cashed in" on bikers and their lifestyle. That is exactaly what this book does. At Least the Lynch report was original, false but original. The author does appear to know what he is talking about but it appears he was too afraid to "ruffle feathers" of the big four so he just tries to tell a story that has already been told. The pictures contained in this book are an even bigger joke. The author has taken pictures of his friends (not club memebers) from the 60's and then added captions that have nothing to do with the picture.
This book is nothing more than an insult to all bikers (outlaw and otherwise)and an insult to anyone who wanted to learn something on the topic!!

Garbage!!,
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
This book is garbage. What a waste of money.
If you want a real look into the 1%er world read Sonny Barger's book or pick up a copy of Freewheelin' Frank's book on e-bay.

Highly disappointed..,

Sadly,
This is neither objective, nor even romantic review of the topic. Even the pictures are mostly spread into two pages each and with the way the book is printed every pictures looks like it is missing a piece in the center. I was disappointed, and expected a lot more fromthe author, but alas.. I still think the 'brotherhood of the Rebels' to be the best biker book by far.

Where's my receipt???,
By Pappy (PACNORWEST) - See all my reviews
This review is from: One Percenter: The Legend of the Outlaw Biker (Hardcover)
THE most poorly written and constructed book claiming to represent the 1%er lifestyle perhaps EVER put out. I'm still looking for my receipt so I can return what qualifies as the literary equal of the 1960s "biker" flicks in terms of blatant exploitation.
The writing is turgid; the captions don't match the photographs; the material rehashed from far better past and current books on the subject and some of the claims made are just simply fantasy. This book deserves to go right to the $1 bin on the sidewalk of the recycled books outlet. "Tripe" is not too strong a word for the author's strip-mining venture of the outlaw motorcycle culture.

One Percenter - The Legend Of The Outlaw Biker
By Dave Nichols I have just finished reading the book One Percenter - the Legend of the Outlaw Biker - by Dave Nichols I will start off by saying it is not what I expected but that is "My Bad" because I did not pay attention to the Legend part of the title. Having ridden for over 56 years, been the president of a large motorcycle club and even a one percenter for a period of time there is not much I haven't been involved in concerning motorcycles. That is why I can say the following. The author did a real good job of informing the reader of the history that lead up to the Biker Lifestyle as we know it today. I DID ENJOY THE BOOK! It is informative and factual. If you are a long time rider you will enjoy rememberances referred to in the book. If you are a new motorcyclist or just interested in motorcycling the book is something you should Definitely Read. The more you know about the lifestyle will help you fit in and enjoy it. |
