Book Description

Peppa Grant's fellow employees may call their new CEO Mr. McSexy, but she's also heard that he's aloof and distant. Cameron McCormac certainly seems cold toward Christmas when she meets him at the company's annual party...but he's also the sexiest man Peppa has ever seen. And when he offers to forgive the damage she accidentally caused to his expensive car in exchange for accompanying him to his family's holiday get-together, she agrees.

Cameron needs a date to the family party to get his matchmaking relatives off his back. Their chemistry is instant and undeniable, leading to an incredible one-night stand. But Peppa wants love and family, while Cameron's only interested in temporary pleasure. When their relationship takes an unexpectedly serious turn, will he run the other way—or will he give love a second chance?

4.0 out of 5 stars When One Perfect Night Leads to More January 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I don't know what it is, but I am in love with stories set in Australia. I've never been there, but I love their stories. And this one was a keeper as well.

Peppa Grant works as a voice actor, but steps in for her company's Christmas Party's entertainment at the last minute. She dresses up as a pixie and entertains the children, only to attract the eye of her new CEO whom all the ladies have dubbed Mr. McSexy. She's nervous around Cameron McCormac, not really because he is gorgeous, but because she accidentally scraped his expensive car in the garage in her haste to make it in time to the party. Cameron offers to forgive the damage in exchange for accompanying him to his family's holiday get-together. Cameron is sure that his matchmaking relatives will back off when they see this scantily clad pixie on his arm.

When they unexpectedly have a great time together and end up in bed, how do they go from that one perfect night? Especially when neither expects anything to come of it. He doesn't realize she works for him and assumes quite a lot based on her dress. Little by little, the realizes he was majorly mistaken about just who and what she is and they find they have more

I really enjoyed this gem; it packed quite a developed and emotional story for such a short length. We really get to know both Pippa and Cameron and really root for them, especially when things turn serious and things aren't looking so hot. I liked the way Ms. Johns "shows" us so much instead of just "telling" us. I look forward to reading more of her stories as this one is a keeper.

Penelope knows there is absolutely no way she can pay for the dent she put in the new boss's Lamborghini, especially with the new discount insurance she purchased just days ago, but she's going to have to try. Until he offers her the chance to pay him back that she is able to afford. One date. Not even the night, she just needs to attend his family Christmas party with him to allay the family matchmakers.
If only she weren't so desperate. And lonely.
Cameron can't imagine what he's thinking. Sure, Penelope looks hot in the fairy costume she was dressed in but she's not the one-night-stand type. And Cameron is definitely not the settled down, white picket fence family man she's obviously used to.
Hopefully, she'll forgive him because, right now, Cameron can't seem to stop himself for pursuing what he knows he shouldn't.

4.0 out of 5 stars one perfectly sexy story! December 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
[...]
One Perfect Night by Rachel Johns is an office romance. In real life, fishing off the company pier is generally considered a bad idea. In this story, it not only turns out to be good advice for the participants, but it is great fun to read.

Peppa Grant usually works as voice talent at Lyrique Recordings. But for the company's Christmas party, she had agreed to entertain the staff's children, dressed in a fairy costume, after the regular entertainment called in sick.

This was not her lucky day. On her way into the party, she had side-swiped the Head Honcho's vintage Lamborghini, and there was no way her insurance was going to cover the damage. And she was going to have to 'fess up to her "crime" dressed up as an "elf" to a man the female employees nicknamed "McSexy". And Peppa was in no way immune to his charms.

Cameron McCormac didn't need any financial assistance to help repair the damage to his Lamborghini. Money was not a problem. What he really needed was a date to his family's Christmas party that evening to stave off his relatives well-meaning but futile attempts to fix him up with someone. He hadn't been interested in anyone since his wife died three years ago, but he was definitely interested in the fairy girl in her too-short tutu and red fishnet stockings. Very, very interested. Cameron offered Peppa a deal, accompany him to his family's annual Christmas, and he'd forget about the car. Peppa couldn't even afford to replace the hubcaps on a Lamborghini. She took the deal.

Nothing that evening was what either of them expected. Especially when the evening ended in Peppa's bed. But after one perfect night together, what happens when both of them want more, even though neither of them expect that it can possibly work out?

4.0 out of 5 stars Spend the holidays down-under.. December 19, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
My Review:
When I first started this book, I thought it was going to be a light, fun read about a one-night stand, but this book is so much more than that. Penelope and Cameron are so much more than two people that have gotten caught up in a bit of passion. They have each been left seriously wounded by past relationships. And while Penelope is still open to the possibilities, she is definitely trying to guard her heart. Cameron, on the other hand, has no plans to ever open his heart again. But when they are faced with their undeniable chemistry, they cannot control when their emotions become irrevocably involved too.

All of the twists and turns in this book were not anything new. They have all been written before which is why I gave this book a slightly lower rating, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and was highly entertained by it. I even shed a tear or two during the climax of the story line...and that always means good things in my book when I am reading a book. I became attached to these two characters and was cheering for them all the way to their HEA, even when I was cursing bad decisions based upon their scars (especially for Cameron.) The level of his pain and scars from his wife's death is heart-wrenching especially when considered after his tragic childhood. As you read this book, your heart is literally breaking for him and his pain.

Rachael Johns has created a wonderful little world here that starts at the holiday Christmas party (which means that this is a wonderful holiday read) and takes you all the way to the HEA that these two characters truly deserve. It's a fun book. It's an emotional book. It's an entertaining book. I liked it...a LOT!
