This review is from: One Who Points to Death (Audio CD)
I would rather support a band that has released 3 studio albums during a
period of 18 years than a band who keeps releasing mediocre records and
just don't know when to quit. I'm happy to say that this long awaited
album does not dissapoint one bit. This record has more in common
with their last output than with their immortal debut, but it still
manages to sound fresh while succesfully showcasing their old-school
roots. If one could have predicted what a thrash band would have sounded
like in the year 2004 a safe bet would have been Infernal Majesty's latest
opus. Sure, they aren't breaking any new grounds here. We still have the
occassional Slayer-esque moments, but who hasn't been influenced by Slayer
in the world of metal? Besides, this is superiorly better than the last
few albums Slayer has put out. This is old school thrash with a modern
touch that isn't afraid to borrow from other metal genres to make the
music more interesting. What you get is a very dark record in every aspect
of the word, very riff-oriented,with a few blast beats thrown in for good
measure and imposing, raspy vocals. This isn't some melancholic reunion or
another return to the ranks of metal, for Infernal Majesty never left the
scene. This is a perfect representation of what extreme metal is all
about.Enjoy the experience.
