This book was given to my daughter for her second birthday. The first time we sat down to read it, I was exhausted from the birthday party, not really in the mood for yet another pop-up book, and when we popped up the first one, I was amazed. This book is brain candy for any age. It is exhilarating, exciting, awe-inspiring and just plain fun. My only regret is that this thing of absolute beauty isn't a little sturdier, we've had several pop-up casualties at the excited hands of my toddler. If you don't have kids, get this one anyway -- for you!

My son has loved these since he was about 8 mo, and now he is a pre-schooler. Well, as with all pop-ups, I always supervise, but this series has fairly simple engineering, so an over enthusisastic tug or rip is fairly easy to cellotape. Our four books have lots of tape, but they still work after three years of frequent use. The pop-ups and presentation are so appealing, you will never regret this purchase. An absolute classic for your childs library.

ONE TO TEN, POP-UP SURPRISES! you must see to believe. A gift to my daughter, I thought it was going to be just another boring number book, but I was wrong--this is SPECTACULAR! I won't give away the surprises inside, but just to let you know, they are top-knotch, vivid graphics of objects that you and your child will LOVE! The artist should have won an award for the illustrations/graphic design of this book! And as a bonus, this book is small and easily portable to Grandmother's house.

I can not remember coming across another number book of this quality nor could I even imagine it! Perfect for young children past the "I like ripping books better than looking at/reading them stage." If this book doesn't encourage counting--NOTHING WILL! ONE TO TEN POP UP SURPRISES! might possibly be a key for 'soaring' into math, you never can tell. In any case, it should have a guarantee that it will make counting fun, or your money back! (No one would want their money back!)

Soaring Heart

Chuck Murphy's creative way to stimulate and educate a child. The book consists of 10 colorful pop-ups which encourage children to ask questions about the things they are seeing in the pop-ups as well as to count.
Our two young boys, ages 2 and 4, take these books everywhere with them. During long automobile voyages or flights each book keeps the child's mind entertained for at least 30 minutes but not more than 1 hour and 20 minutes during any given trip.
We have already purchased the above book three times since it has sustained a lot of wear and tear from the mountains to the beaches. Chuck Murphy's books are tops with our kids.

This is such a wonderful book for kids of all ages. I bought it for my 10 month old because she likes pop-ups and she is interested in numbers. The book looks so boring when you first open it--big black and white numbers. But then you open it to a wonderful surprise on every page. The book is just so creative and fantastic. I think Mr. Murphy makes the best pop-up books I have ever seen! I would seriously buy all of his books if you don't have them already!

My 16 month old LOVES this book. It is actually the only book she asks for. The pop-up constructions are easy enough for a baby to figure out how to operate. For the most part, they are also durable and hard for her to tear. She acts amazed by every pop-up and says "oh!" it is so cute! We also like the Color book by the same author, but my daughter prefers the number one - the pop ups are a little more complex.

This little book is charming. The art work is crisp and imaginitive. The groups of pop-ups on each page, illustrating the numbers from one to ten, are very nicely done and images on each page are attractively different from those on the page before. The book is well constructed and easy for young children to use. It is a good value for the price.

My son is visually impaired and just loves this book. He actually learned how to crawl by his father and i sitting at opposite ends of the room and "reading" the book. He would crawl between us. I could get him to stop anything he was doing and crawl to the book. Then he wants you to read and read and read it. We read it so much in his first year, we had to buy it again. Yes it is not durable, but I don't think there is much to be done about that.

How lucky for children and adults that Chuck Murphy puts his considerable creative talents to the service of young children. All of his books are quiet little masterpieces, and One to Ten Pop-Up Surprises is one of the best.

Stark black and white numbers are lifted to reveal colorful frogs and birds, bugs and butterflies, cats, dogs, seashells and even little boys and girls. Three of the ten manipulatives are tabs, which are more difficult for young children, but any adult would be eager to help out with this beautiful book.

Our two-year old eagerly yells out each number and then counts the revealed objects. With this gorgeous teaching aid, learning is not only painless, but a pleasure.

This was the first book that my baby got interested in. She was about 6 months at the time. She is now 16 months and still loves it. Every page has a new and colorful surprise.
