Not such a fan,
By Ulyyf "Connie" (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Chants for Children (Paperback)
This book is fairly comprehensive, having a number of childhood chants that I didn't know already. It's the ones that I *did* know already that annoy me.
Some of them have known authors - you'd never know that from this book, they're never cited or named. To me, that's a *serious* problem. Also, these chants are given with no context. If I happen to know that a certain song is normally used with a certain game, I don't like seeing it afloat on a page with nothing but the words. How do I know where the other ones come from? I don't! A few suggestions for use are given in the book, but there was room enough to give the traditional use of some of these. I don't know, I just didn't like that. |
