Biography

Biography by Steve Huey

One of the most successful soft rock acts of the 1970s, the duo of Jim Seals and Dash Crofts met while playing with singer Dean Beard in 1958. That year, Beard was invited to join the Champs (of "Tequila" fame), and Seals and Crofts tagged along, remaining with the group until 1965. The two then bounced from the Mushrooms to the Dawnbreakers before deciding to strike out on… Read more in Amazon's Seals & Crofts Store

Editorial Reviews

One of the most request catalogs for CD reissue we have ever had is the Seals & Crofts catalog. This duo consisting of Jim Seals & Dash Crofts had numerous charting albums in the 1970's. We are now proud to present pretty much their entire catalog of albums, beginning with their first eponymous album from 1969, all the way through their last charting album, "Takin' It Easy" from 1978.

5.0 out of 5 stars This day belongs to me...., November 24, 2007

This is a great supporting soundtrack to a movie that would probably do well on DVD (judging by user comments) if it would ever be released as such. Here, we have Seals and Crofts harmonizing on some soft rock ballads that can be peacefully enjoyed, interspersed with instrumental tracks that are also good. If you've seen the film, this soundtrack will bring back fond memories. If you like Seals and Crofts, you will enjoy the tracks on this one. If you've never seen the film or heard Seals and Crofts, this would be worth a purchase if you like soft rock music and/or music from the mid-70's. Enjoyable.

Thank you so much Amazon. I've been waiting for this moment to come. Maybe if it wasn't for the soundtract, the movie wouldn't have been a hit like the other Robbie Benson movie The Ice Castles. Seals & Crofts, Charles Fox and Paul Williams equals a sure-fire hit. Now I don't have to listen to the scratches from the LP to CD transfer copy on my iPod. Again, thank you so much Amazon. I got one more suggestion Amazon. How about the What I Did For Love album of Jack Jones, Set My Love In Motion of Syreeta,Pleasure Train by Teri De Sario and the Reunion album of Peter, Paul & Mary on CD? I've already proven myself right twice. Once with Jack Jones' Write me a love song, Charlie and this one from Seals & Crofts.

5.0 out of 5 stars I agree wholeheartedly, January 25, 2008
This review is from: One on One (Audio CD)
with the other three Seals and Crofts are always one of the faved duos of the 70's with their music and it just went much better when Charles Fox in cahoots with them on this soundtrack on one of the most beloved romantic flicks of the late 70's. I remember seeing 2 or 3 times while in college, it seemed all the guys went to see it one night alone as the girls went .. I seem to think the guys saw it for the basketball theme and of course the gals for the romantic feel .. but after seeing with guys the first time I had to grab my gal at the time and take her the second and third time. Yes, I like the guy in Manila, I have it on LP and listened over and over but now have just bought it on CD, now if the film which I taped on VHS to VHS would come out on DVD .. so let that be a message to Robby Benson, get on your high horse and come out of hiding and quit directing tv and other medium, bring this must beloved film of your career on DVD as your others Jeremy, Ice Castles (another classic) and Ode to Billy Joe. thanks guys!
