About the Author

Sandra Boynton is a popular American cartoonist, writer, and songwriter. Since 1974, Boynton has written and illustrated over forty children’s books and seven general audience books, including four New York Times bestsellers. More than 60 million of her books have been sold—“mostly to friends and family,” she says. She has also written and produced five albums of award-winning children’s music. Three of her albums have been certified Gold, and Philadelphia Chickens, nominated for a Grammy, has gone Platinum. She lives with her family on a farm in New England.

I'm a huge fan of cartoonist, author, songwriter (and now video producer) Sandra Boynton and especially of her books containing CDs. (Check out "Philadelphia Chickens", "Dog Train" and "Blue Moo") One of the tracks on "Blue Moo" (a song written by Boynton and sung by the legendary B.B. King) now has its own book, and this is it.

The book itself has the story and great Boynton illustrations. Then there is the sheet music. But in the front is a 14-minute DVD with the four-minute "music video" Boynton and her songwriting partner Michael Ford made during a three-hour slot of time with King in Las Vegas. (You'll learn all about this in the seven-minute "making of" documentary also on the DVD.

Boynton has a wonderful "tongue in cheek" sense of humor and it shows up EVERYWHERE in this book and DVD. When you get it, read the list of credits - and even the name of her production company - and you'll see what I mean.

To make this even better, look at the list price. Workman (the publisher) apparently wants everyone to get this and priced it low. And it's a hardbound book with high quality values too.

I can't wait for the next Boynton/ Workman multimedia project. The other CDs are constantly in my CD player rotation. Start here and then check out the others.

I have long enjoyed Sandra Boynton's cartoons. I have also been a long-time fan of B. B. King.

So what's not to love about a combination of the two. It's something that we and our daughter and out granddaughter will enjoy for quite some time.

where their shoes, etc. were. I knew this would be good -- it's BB King for heaven's sake!! As soon as I listen to it a few more times, I'll send it to my grandchildren.

We all love this book/dvd. I think my daughter watched it about 10x times today. After each play, she puts her index finger up and says, "1 more?" The color and feel of the movie is warm and comforting. The socks are very cool cats. I highly recommend this book to anyone, it's a great introduction to the blues for any child.

Our two year old adores this book and DVD. At this point, he knows the story by heart and can recite it and turn the pages as he does so. Our now well worn copy was a gift and we, in turn, have given it as a gift to other toddlers. BB King and Lucille - and all the sock puppets - are known by first name in our household. I could only wish this wonderful group would team up for more adventures. Thank you BB, Lucille and Sandra Boynton!

I loved the book/dvd "One Shoe Blues". B.B. King is charming and the sock puppets are delightful. The dvd includes the song, explanation of the dvd production and the sock puppet "audition", all told with a dry sense of humor you will love. Showed it to my 2nd and 3rd music classes today and it was a hit!

A great way to introduce a young listener to the Blues, and how cool that it's played by BB King. Sandra Boynton has another success. This book was discussed on CBS's Sunday Morning, and I was convinced to buy it, and several other Boynton books.

This book and the music and musicians are just awesome for youngsters. It gives them a love for music and gives them thought with the lyrics that are not exactly childish but speaks to them as well. I enjoyed them as much as the kids!
