It's for sure their best, catchy songs, fine arrangements and beautiful singing. One star off because Bumble Boogie is missing. I'm glad I still have original LP.

The Nylon's Finest Hour,

This review is from: One Size Fits All (Audio CD)
I discovered the Nylons via this 1980's release over 15 years ago and have been hooked ever since. Both on stage and in these wonderful accappella tracks, the group lifts the listener to new heights, and in the process literally reinvents some of the classic songs we all know and love. The standout here is "Up the Ladder to the Roof" - originally a song from The Supremes - but given a new percolating lease on life in this superb arrangement, which shines unlike any other Supremes cover recorded before or since. Other strong cuts include "Please" "That Kind of Man" and "Prince of Darkness." Whether singing soft easy listening numbers or rocking gems, the Nylons will capture your audio heart in this shining album, which I consider one of the best vocal collections of the past 20 years. A superb addition to any music lover's library!

Pop harmonies at their best!,

One Size Fits All is a wonderful a cappella pop album that is aptly named because it is so widely appealing. This album is well known in high end audio circles for its natural vocals and superb recording. I bought my copy after seeing it in many audio stores during my college days. This is one of my favorite CDs, not only because it impresses on my high end audio system, but the songs are downright infectious. Don't be surprised to find yourself humming and snapping your fingers even after the music stops playing. Highly recommended!

I have liked most albums from this group. This is another keeper. It is a good combination of vocals and simple but creative music. The production is very good. Overall a very good CD.

I haven't heard any of the other Nylons albums, but I think its safe to say that this is the album for you to buy. I listened to this as a child on all of our family road trips and can think of few other albums that make me want to sing like this one. Take it in your car, turn up the volume and you'll be hooked!

Very nice! I enjoyed all the songs on this album...which is uncommon as I usually find an album has about half the songs as "place holders". Unlike their album titles "The Nylons", the voices were in harmony, even in difficult passages they were on-key, the instruments were not over-powering...a great album. I will definitely try out more albums by The Nylons!

I first heard "Bop 'til You Drop" on an NPR show in the eighties, and I just had to run out and get the album. It was an album on vinyl! I was thinking about them the other day, no longer have a record player, and decided to look around Amazon. They had this one and Seamless, two wonderful albums.
The song "Bop 'til You Drop" is here, and is definitely a fun time, dancin' classic. They also do justice a couple of 50's and 60's classics, "Silhouettes" and "Town Without Pity". Maybe it's the Irish in me, I do sometimes go for the sentimental and romantic stuff. "Up the Ladder to the Roof (so we can see heaven much better)" and "Please (Don't Go)" are truly things of beauty! If you want to get the definitive of this group, grab this one and Seamless. The only drawback is that back in the 80's, they were still doing only 45 minute albums.

"This Album Contains Only Vocals and Percussion." That is not my description but the one on the cover of One Size Fits All.'
I got this one one of my dollar raids, which is scraping up sandbag high walls of cheap vynal. Lots of interesting things unknown happen. Now when you think accapela vocal groups you think mom and da.....well Christ, I guess in 2010 it is grandma and grandpa's music, but this is just not the case. Manhattan Transfer has done material like this, and even at the height of his psychedelic abstraction in 1970, Frank Zappa produced the Persuasions--none of these people are exactly exponents of conservative Goodfella's aural brill cream. And do you catch the Zappa reference on this album from the 1990 Nylons. (Did he say something--Na!) And this is an early 1990s album in the buffered digital production. The structures on One Size Fits All are do-wop, but what I like about it is there is no falsetto siren, no idiot going "cry-i-i-oh-i" that dates some of the 1950s articles so badly. The vocals here are tight and straight, and the band works like a perfectly polished ball coming high noon at you. Terrific

I was introduced to the Nylons in 1985 by a jazz dance teacher in college, fell in love with the group, and then found out that the guy I was dating had the same CD. We were married of course! :) Still are. :-D
