5.0 out of 5 stars A Good EFL Story, January 25, 2005

This review is from: One Snowy Day (level 1) (Hello Reader) (Paperback)
This is the story of several forest animals who build a snowman. Each animal finds something needed. Then they roll and pile the snow. Each animal contributes what they found to make all the parts of the snowman. At the end they toast their new friend with cups of hot chocolate.

As an EFL teacher, I find this book very useful with its simple and limited language to teach animal names, the names of clothing, body parts and colors. The children love the story and it's easy to follow up with a fun role play. The story is age appropriate for elementary school children beginning to learn English.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Kids!, August 27, 2005
I've really enjoyed the artwork and illustrations that Mr. Scherer did for other children's books, but I'm even more impressed that he has ventured into authoring books as well. I deal with kids at all levels of maturity and development, and I think this book is outstanding for helping young children learn basics such as names of animals and articles of clothing. The idea of cooperation and working together to build the snowman is an adorable added touch!
