In this book, Burns and Farris break down complex drum rhythms into simple rudimental patterns. It is amazing how simple it is to learn some challenging beats such as the samba, salsa, or difficult funk and jazz patterns by using this approach. The basic concept is to first learn the pattern on the snare then apply it to the kit. And it works!

For me, this book was a breakthrough to a whole new level of playing. Highly recommended!

I have been using this book to teach drummers since Roy Burns gave me a copy several years ago. It breaks down rudimental sticking patters so they can be taken from just the hands to a full groove on the drum set. You can even teach yourself if you have a basic knowledge of drum notation. Every student I have used this book was able to incorporate what they learned to practical application with a band. It is a fun book to teach with as well.

This book gets you up and running in no time. Extremely intuitive and really amazingly fast to comprehend. I love this book.
