This is a true story of a little girl, Charity Yorgason, who was born without a brain, and the impact she had on the family who adopted her. The Yorgason's were told that she would never experience emotions, never smile, never love, and would not live past two years. They first took her in their home as a foster child, and were ultimately able to adopt her. She was a hydrocephalic who endured many operations, always surprising even the doctors with her ability to bounce back. But the real story is the story of her ability to love everyone without ever saying a word. Through her smile and her eyes she radiated a love that would touch your soul. This story takes you through the almost 8 years of her all too short life, sharing her experiences, her pain, and the lessons of love that she taught through her smile and her eyes. It is impressive to see, through the eyes of her father, what an impact Charity had on everyone she met, and especially on her adopted family. It was amazing to read of the intense pain she experienced, yet still she seemed to choose to live. This book will make you laugh and cry. It will touch your soul, and renew your faith. Warning: Have a box of Kleenex close by. You'll need them!

i was on the island of st. martin recently, staying at a small hotel on the beach; to pass some time, i'd noticed they had "used" books on the shelf in the lobby to borrow and saw this little book called "one tattered angel". i started reading it and couldn't put it down. it affected the rest of my trip & my outlook on things, especially the power of prayer. i wanted to take the book with me - i was going to ask the hotel if i could buy it, just in case i couldn't find it anywhere. however, i noticed that it was signed by the author! i realized that the book needed to be left right there, so someone else could have the pleasure of reading it, like i did.

This book touched and inspired me so much that we named our daughter Charity after the subject of this book. This book helps us to better understand what our Heavenly Father expects of us, how very much he loves us and how he compensates for the weaknesses we have been given. There are blessings, even in the toughest of trials. Don't hesitate to buy this book. It may (and should) change your life.

This book is truly touching. I finished reading it today for the 10th time within the year I have gotten it I believe. It is a true story of how even though times get rough, our Lord Jesus is always by us and so are his tattered angels.

Please buy this book. Allow yourself to really feel every word that's written, every emotion expressed. I bought it because I was curious about the child born without a brain. What I found was a book with so much compassion and depth, I often had to put it aside to catch my breath. I am truly touched by the scope of this family's dedication and love for their angel.

I read this book when it first came out many years a go. I have always loved reading books by Yorgason and noticed this book is a true story story about his family. I was touched by the love this family had for a sevely handicapped girl who wasn't even their's biologically. I was even more touch with the love Charity gave to those around her. I can't believe a child with out a brain could change so many lives!!!

I never imagined that my family would experience anything like the Yorgason's, but I was wrong. One year after reading "One Tattered Angel" for the first time, my cousin also had a daughter who was born without a brain. Her name is Amelia Grace. The past 10 years with Amelia has been difficult with many ups and downs but our family would never trade the great blessings Amelia brings into our lives. Reading the story of Charity brings peace, hope and love into our lives.

This book shows how close we are to the spiritual world and how we can stay in tune with the spirits.

I first heard a part of this story from my Mother when I was young. I found it again later in life, read the whole story, and fell in love with Blaine's story all over again.

Miracles are all around us if we just open our eyes and SEE all that God has revealed to make man's life better!

One Tattered angel is a very great witness that miracles do happen and God is the God of all..... even the little ones.

This awesomely well-written little book is one of the most inspiring and humbling books I have read in a long time. I have given several as gifts and will give more. My sister's comments were that it "should be required reading for everyone." That pretty well sums it up. Highly recommended.

Let's just say , I will be ordering again from amazon.com. My book was like new. The story itself is wonderful. I wish I could buy the book for everyone! At their prices I might be able to give to a lot of people I know!
