Book Description

August 1, 2006
When Jerry Fowss was ten years old, he had a paranormal experience that both alienated him from his family and ignited a search to understand what happened. However, neither Western science nor Eastern mysticism adequately explains his experience, so Jerry abandons his quest.

But the quest doesn’t give up on him. An enigmatic urban shaman rekindles his inner fire, which then blazes higher when he meets Helen Donellyn, a journalist whose work takes them on an adventure into the frontiers of physics. Shortly after the shaman returns, Jerry mysteriously disappears.

Helen frantically searches for answers in her reality while Jerry lives those answers in an alternate reality where things happen by thinking them and dualisms are integrated by an advanced language. This world challenges his assumptions and deeply transforms him. Jerry’s quest is universal—to find wholeness and connection in oneself and with others.

The One That Is Both is ambitious, highly imaginative, thought-provoking, and original. Though the book is deeply probing, it is written with a light, refreshing flair.”
—Steven M. Rosen, Emeritus Professor of Psychology, College of Staten Island/City University of New York

5.0 out of 5 stars Peace as a knowing of our connectedness, July 4, 2007
This review is from: The One That Is Both (Paperback)
As an artist and architect, I rarely express myself in writing, so the fact that I am writing this review indicates that I feel very strongly. After I read this book, The One That Is Both, I had the deep knowingness that it was going to become one of the things history would point back to and say that it marked a turning point in the evolution of humankind. I know that's a big claim, and I don't say it lightly. If you get what this book is really saying, your perception of "how things are" will be profoundly altered. If enough people get it, there's truly hope for a better life for our children and grandchildren.

5.0 out of 5 stars The One That Is Both: Where the Material Meets the Divine, July 28, 2007
By
This review is from: The One That Is Both (Paperback)
The title of the book itself creates a new paradigm to live from. The paradox of duality in a universe of interconnected oneness is a powerful place to stand to usher in the future. The author has a gift for clearly articulating concepts in a fresh, I've-never-thought-of-it-that-way, highly engaging manner that will leave you changed in the way you think and hold your experiences. I've found myself looking back through the book weeks later to re-read particularly compelling passages... much like watching a great movie again, this book is even richer the second time through.

4.0 out of 5 stars Journey into the Unknown, November 30, 2006
This review is from: The One That Is Both (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Ms. Maroski's first novel! I was intrigued from beginning to end & loved how the story interwined the lives of the characters. By the end of the book, I completely understood what the title represents - We Are All Connected & every decision we make along this Journey creates for us New Possibilities of unimaginable beauty if we stay open to receiving direction. I cannot wait for the sequel!
