Editorial Reviews

Product Description
After two years on the road with such bands as Evanescence and fellow Canadians Nickelback, Default returns with their most mature and uncompromising collection of songs to date. "One Thing Remains" equally channels the classic and the modern--from Led Zeppelin to A Perfect Circle--into something unique. The undeniable riffs and passionate vocals of the first single, "Count On Me", is blasting on a rock radio station near you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Default : One Thing Remains, March 18, 2006
By leseure44 (St Louis) - See all my reviews
I really enjoyed this CD. It doesn't have the radio play power that their first album did but it's very good. In fact, I enjoyed this CD more than the first one (and of course they are both better than Ecolocation). Count On Me is good, everyone needs to start calling in to the radio stations and getting that played.
I saw these guys in concert with Nickelback and Trapt. They blew Trapt away. I really started liking them after that concert because they put a lot of energy out on stage and they are just a fun band to watch.
I think Default has yet to hit their peek. The lead singer has a great voice. One thing Default does need to do is change their sound up a little. Most of the songs are very similar and they are all hard. Obviously that is Default's comfort zone but it wouldn't hurt them at all to come up with a couple of slower, radio friendly songs, so they can really put themselves on the map. However, they definitely need to stick with the hard rock as well so their "superfans" won't call them sellouts. This is a very strong effort by Default and I can't wait to hear from them again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Album, January 1, 2006
By Kamini Mistry "rock princess" (Manchester, England UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is one amazing album! I liked most the songs on this; such as All Is Forgiven, It Only Hurts, I Cant Win, Count On Me, Hiding From The Sun, Beautiful Flower and The Memory Will Never Die. Right now the only music that is played on my personal stereo are by Default, Nickelback and Theory Of A Deadman (all of which appear to belong to the same genre in music, and I think I'd have to appreiciate** Chad Kroger's hard work in making these bands as successful as they are now).

Out of all the Default albums I have purchased, I'd have to say this was the best.

This is a must have for those who like music by artists such as Nickelback and Theory Of A Deadman.

** Please excuse the spelling error.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good investment for a new listener!, January 12, 2006
By Joel L. (Buffalo, NY) - See all my reviews
I have never known of Default until the single "Count on Me." (Though I did just learn that "Wasting Time" was their song...)
While those songs are "singles," they're are definatley more songs on this cd equally deserving of radio play.

The majority of the front 9 songs are awesome, they all have great melodies with nice accompaniment, Dallas' vocals are truly a melodic rock listener's dreams. They are overall just great rock songs! "All is forgiven" is as awesome opener. The CD then loses steam after "Count on me." Only tracks 7 & 9 hold any luster for me after that. "The Memory..." is a very moving song, if you have any relation to it.

Overall this CD is very good, though after track 9 it seems as if they recycled the same music...it gets so boring that the last 2 tracks end with you wondering what they were even about, because you were sleeping...
