Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: One Touch Video Grabber / Video Capture - EZGrabber (Electronics)
The item installs very fast and is picked up by my Windows XP without issue. I have a rooftop antenna hooked up to it through a digital converter box and VCR. I can watch TV on my computer with this and the picture is very good. I am able to record to SVCD, VCD, MPG4, AVI, WMV, WMA, And MP3 all with good enough quality for the price. When I capture to DVD the video and audio are jumpy and not worth watching. The other issue I'm having with this item is the video editing software that comes with it (ULEAD Videostudio 10 SE) is useless. There are no instructions on use and every time I try to convert an AVI file that I just recorded from the EZ Grabber it says "The content of these files is unreadable". When I do get it to recognize the video it does not convert the video just the audio. Up to this point I have not been able to get a complete DVD file after converting. I'm just glad I have two DVD players that Play AVI videos. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants a cheap way to watch TV on their computer and/or who have to ability to watch AVIs on their DVD player. If you want it to convert your old VHS tapes to DVD (which is why I got this in the first place) I would suggest you look else where.

I've used several analog-to-digital capture devices, and this is the first one I found that actually works. I realize that five years ago the technology was much more primitive, but I never even got the other products to capture video without locking up my pc. The EZ-Grabber is simple to install (you will probably need to go to their website to download current drivers - Windows 7 drivers weren't on the CD that came with the device). But the install went flawlessly. And the included "One Touch Grabber" software will capture virtually any video. One problem I had with the device was that, using Cyberlink 8, many of my home movies were identified as "copyrighted" and wouldn't capture. But One Touch Grabber imports them (and everything else, by the way) without any problem. I'm in the process of transferring all my home movies to DVD and the device has performed without a single glitch.

I tried this stupid piece of junk on three separate PCs, and I only got it to work once (never again after reboot). Drivers and software installed without any problems per the directions but it just wouldn't pick up the composite A/V signal after I got it to work one time and one time only, probably the 11th time out of dozens of times I tried it over and over uninstalling/reinstalling this garbage multiple times on multiple XP desktops. I ended up taking it by the cord and shattering it on my hardwood floor when I couldn't take the frustration anymore. At least I only paid $20 . . . I guess using my DV camcorder to record old VHS tapes and firewire the AVI to my hard drive isn't such a cumbersome way to digitize my old footage after all!
